A Reflection of the Presidency of Barack Obama
President Barack Obama became the 44th President of the United States of America on January 20, 2009 at 12:05 p.m. His Presidency as well as his milestone $787 billion Economic Stimulus Plan has swooned Americans with a new spirit of remaking America.HIs popularity status with the American people is well above 60% and with his frequent town hall meetings, that rating does not seem to be on the decline. In President Barack Obama's first thirty days in office he has sought to equalize the pay between women and men by signing the Lilly Ledbetter bill into a law. He has sought to unify the Congress with invitations to the White House and extending his democratic reins with nominations of republicans to his presidential cabinet. (Judd Gregg bowed out later but the extended hand had been there from President Obama to rid his administration of bipartisanship) Within his first thirty days as President Barack Obama has passed the $787 billion Economic Recovery and Reinvestment Act to create 3.7 million jobs for Americans. The $275 billion Housing Plan has been introduced to Americans in an effort to save 9 million families from foreclosure when 30 million are in financial difficulty of losing their homes.
During the political campaign, adoring future voters braved the cold to hear the eloquence of his voice filled with hope for change and promise for the voter should he be elected to the Presidency. When President Obama spoke at these rallies about the failed policies of President Bush, one would wonder with his racial background (President Barack Obama is borne of a Kenyan father and a Kansan mother) why didn't he speak on the plight of racial issues. His reason for not focusing on the issue became evident when he spoke on inauguration day and talked about all of the races that comprised his beloved America. This is what President Barack Obama said as a part of his inaugural speech, "Time and again these men and women struggled and sacrificed and worked till their hands were raw so that we might live better lives." President Barack Obama went on to say that people who "toiled in sweatshops and settled the West, edured the lash of the whip and plowed the hard earth made up America's resilient spirit. President spoke as a true American taking note of the contribution to this great country of immigrants, colonial Americans, slaves and indentured servants.
The main goal of President Barack Obama's Administration is to bring all Americans together for the good of the country because as he said in his inaugural speech, Americans can achieve greatness when "imagination is joined to common purpose and necessity to courage."
A Reflection of the Presidency of Barack Obama brought the White House on Pennsylvania Avenue in Washington D.C. to the rural, urban and suburban grasps of America. Americans educate themselves daily on the progress of their new Presidential leader with the use of digital television, desktop and laptop computers, digital cameras, iPhones, and other means of wireless communications. The governing of America seems to park on every American's doorstop everyday before the election with queries of how many popular votes President Barack Obama had over Senator John McCain, his former Presidential opponent. After President Barack Obama historic win, Americans did not go back to their work with a business as usual attitude. Now the American people are once again mobilized and enthralled with the political workings of their government that used to be as foreign as knowing how many Presidents has presided over the American people.
Most people today, can easily answer the two part question, who is the 44th President of the United States and why was his election such an historic event in American History. President Barack Obama having publicly called himself a "mutt" when speaking of getting a pet for his two daughters, Malia,10 and Sasha, 7, snubbed bipartisanship to bring to the Presidency cohesives doctrines of a true and dedicated patriot, made in America.
Mr. President has had an impressive first thirty day evaluation and his popularity poll does not seem to be on the decline.
