Magicjack - Vonage - CEll phone
67So should you ditch your landline and go cell phone? Millions of people are doing it. So are millions of others going to vonage and magicjack. These are billed as saving money. Really?
In order to have majicjack or vonage you have to have an internet connection - high speed. Most often this means having cable TV. Add the cost of cable plus the fee for either magicjack or vonage and see if the cost is less than landline. You have to have the high speed if you are going to have phone service through either magicjack or vonage.
With a landline you can get DSL high speed. Unlimited long distance, depending on the plan and company you go with, will cost your some bucks. But is it cheaper than vonage or magicjack through cable? It is difficult to figure with the way the phone companies do their pricing.
If you chunk the landline then you most likely will depend on cell phones for your calls. Minutes add up in a hurry. If you are going over your allotted minutes is the cell costing you more than the cost of a landline? Don't forget about the additional cost of texting.
Figure all the angles before you lock yourself into a long-term contract with a company that will treat you with disrespect. You may well discover a local landline to be the better bargain.

vonage and magicjack both rely on either cable or dsl
your best bet is hughes net. It is a direct sateliite dish that uploads and downloads as fast as dsl or cable. google "hughes net" and you can get info and pricing.

I am trying to figure all this stuff out. I can't get dsl or cable here in the woods-I am on dial up! So, I am looking into wireless or satelite - probably wireless. This is the first time I've heard of vonage or magicjack - what is that? Phone, internet, or something else entirely?
