Make Lots of Money Online
66Make lots of money online! That heading got you here. You got all excited because yet another joker had the potential of helping you make money online. And for that I'm sorry. It was a trick. This post if nothing else will help you save money. You probably won't make a dime online by what I'm going to write.
Internet Marketing can make you a lot of money online. No doubt. But like the ofline world with bogus infomercials and the like, the online world is filled with tricksters and hucksters who simply want to hype you up to buy their latest marketing software. Or their latest ebook. Or join their membership club. They make money online by making you believe you can make money easily online. It's a lot harder than the guberus want to admit. They will pay lip service by saying that it's hard, but only because you do not have the information they can provide in their fantastic ebook. If you get their ebook then making money online can be easy! That's crap.
Don't Buy Internet Marketing Ebooks
The main thing that bothers me about Internet marketing is information products. There are far too many. And far too many are just regurgitating something they read somewhere else. I can promise you that for 95% of the Internet marketing ebooks out there you are wasting your money if you purchase it. Yes I realize that some people would disagree. The ebook you bought just happened to be the greatest thing ever written. But I have bought a bunch of ebooks promising to teach me the specifics of pay-per-click riches, blogging success and affiliate sales. Most haven't helped.
I don't dismiss that information is king. It's important. But just how many techniques, tricks and secrets can there be for PPC? There are only so many ways to sell an affiliate product. This is not rocket science. How many ebooks are out there for Squidoo? Hubpages? There are supposed to be secrets to these platforms? What secret? I write a hubpage in 30 minutes and an hour later Google has it indexed. I put on it 1,000 words, some photos, an Amazon module and a news feed and published it. What's the secret? What else do I need to happen with this hubpage? What could an ebook tell me? Seems though a lot of people (me included) are talking up Hubapages, so given the hype, the guberus will want to capitalize on it. Don't bite. All you need to know is available for free right here on Hubpages. It's the same with every other niche that is sold in Internet marketing to make money online.
Find Someone You Trust That is Making Money Online
You have to find a mentor you trust. There are good guys who are willing to give their time and know-how to an eager learner. They just do not want to waste their time. You need to search those people out. There are plenty of decent forums where good people post comments. Read what they have to say. Visit their blog or website. They can teach you. The point is: You do not have to spend money on all this Internet marketing, make money online crap. I promise, everything you need to know can be had for free. You just need to spend some time researching for it. And there are some knowledgeable people now trying to give back. They are tired of the hype and the sleazy marketing. Listen to them. I've listed a few that I trust at the bottom of this hub. If you want to make money online then listen and read what they have to say. You won't be spending a lot of money on ebooks and you won't be buying a lot of software.
The Email List
There is this little circle that guberus like to put you in. It's all very carefully choreographed to get your money. If not today then someday soon. And not just that once. Multiple times. It's called the email list. They brag about the size of this list. They love to have you on it and you are nothing to them but a sucker that is sitting there waiting on their next email to buy whatever it is they are pimping. This is make money online at it's best. It's ingenious. I don't dismiss the value of it but it is just abused. I refuse to be a part of it on either side, anymore.
This is your fault though. You signed up for this madness when you went to their make money online website. You know the one. The salespage that is 47 pages of hype and testimonials and hoopla to get you to purchase their product. But they know you aren't likely to buy that first visit. Oh no. Too much information. You need to think about it. But if you aren't reminded about it then you won't be thinking about it. You'll be forgetting. So they trap you into signing up for their email list. They want to give you something for free. Sign up for their free tips, tricks and secrets newsletter. It's usually crap. But now they have your email. You have just opted in for spam. They will send you offers they create. They will send you offers their buddy creates. You will be pitched mercilessly.
But you won't care because you want to make money online. You will eventually get hooked by some offer. Something will catch your eye and make you believe. "Hubpages Secrets to Affiliate Sales and Adsense Riches". There it is. The salescopy speaks to you. You just know the marketer has the answers. You can feel it. The hype flows over you like a warm bath. It feels soothing because you believe. This is the one that will help me make money online!
You press the "Buy now before the price goes up to $97" button. Happy that you were one of the 300 that got a copy. You log in to your Paypal account. You allow $47 to go to Crapbank. You press the download link and get your ebook along with the $457 worth of useless bonuses. You open the ebook and begin reading. Why, the first four chapters is fluff!? Chapters 5-7 I read about on the Warrior Forum. The last chapter is resources? This was horrible!
I've been there too many times. I refuse to fall into this make money online trap anymore.

Been there done that myself and like you I'm not falling for the crap anymore. My problem is that everyone I know has a regular job so I don't know anyone who is making money online unless they are getting paid to make it for someone else and even those people only know enough to do their little piece of the job.

Hi Splork,
You're right as rain. One has to be choosy and pick their spots trying to learn all this stuff. I'd been broke long ago if I bought every ebook and application that came down the pike and into my inbox while I wrapped my head around IM.
After some seasoning, it does become easier to differentiate the wheat from the chaff, most of the time.
I do like the Jeff Walker PLF influence - lots of informative free stuff delivered during the sales ("relationship") process. Especially, the videos. I learn a lot just form that stuff and it can be inspiring too, seeing the niche stuff in action.
Besides, it's easy to unsubscribe after you get the free stuff. They'll be back in touch, eventually - through a JV, with more free stuff :-)
