Make Money Fast Starting Today

When you are trying to make money fast there are two ways to look at the problem.  You can actually do some sort of work in exchange for money, or you can find a way to get extra cash withuout physical labor.  Historically there has been a lot of money change hands between people who have jobs to be done and people who are willing to do those jobs.

If you want to trade your labor for money the thing to remember is you need to get the word out to people that you are willing to do work for them.  In many small cities and towns there are informal gathering places for people who want to do day labor.  These are jobs that last from a few hour to a few days.  The way it works is the people who want to do the work congregate at a particual street corner or parking lot.  If someone else had some work to be done, like cleaning, yard work, or ditch digging, the person drives by the group and selects one to a few people to go with him and work.

This idea of day jobbing has been around for years.  In fact, during the last depression my Grandfather supported himself this way.  He said he got really fast at standing up because usually when a man drove up and said he had work the first worker to stand up and get to his car was the one who got the job.  Depending on how many people know about the day job site you can work most days if there is demand.  You usually get paid around minimum wage.

The downside to day jobbing is the number of illegal aliens who have taken this route to support themselves in this country.  Most of these informal sites are filled with people from south of the border because they can't get any legal work.  This has really tarnished the practice because a lot of people do not want to do business with illegals.  The upside for legal residents is the recent crackdown on undocumenteds has really thinned out the competition.

Doing day labor is really a good way to make some extra money if you are able to do physical work.  Most of the jobs require that you use your muscles to get things accomplished but that is not all bad.

This isn't such a good ideas in the winter but every other season generally provides a lot of opportunity for getting paid to do yard work for people.  This can be everyting from storm cleanup to mowing the lawn.  If you get in with the right homeowners you can sometimes get paid quite hansomely for doing this type of physical work.

The problem is getting people to know you will do this sort of work so they can hire you.  The key is to advertise at places people who own houses will see your ad.   Many people put fliers or note cards up at laundromats, and store message boards.  This can give some success but there is usally competition.

One idea is to take your job hunting to the stores where people buy products for their yard.  Often times hardware stores and garden stores have a message bulleting board.  You can print up flyers at the local library for about 5 cents a piece and place them on these bulletin boards.  Be sure to make the flyer attractive.  Give a list of particular chores you can do and offer a reference if at all possible.  I have found that getting a reference is really not that hard because if you work at all people are happy and will be willing to tell others.

If you can't post a flyer think about standing at the enterance to the parking lot with a sign saying you will do yard work.  The key to this is to not look like you are just wanting a hand out.  Your sign should say you are really looking for work and not a handout.  Otherwise you may get people thinking you are panhandling.  You may get a few dollars this way but you could also get arrested as there are panhandling laws in most towns.

Good luck.  You must come up with an idea for something people want done and then find a way to let them know you will do it.  Self-promotion is very important in this situation.
