Make Money From Trash
57
Making money from home has been a passion of mine since I was able to pick up a copy of my dads Business Opportunity magazine. I have tried several different ways to make money from home. None of them has been more simple than turning trash into cash. There are hundreds of way you can do this. In this hub I will talk about 5 of my favorite ways to turn trash into cash.
Dumspters, curbside, your garage, behind department stores, and construction sites all offer a chance for you to make some serious cash. Looking inside dumpsters can yield some pretty awesome trash that can sold for cash. Not only dumpsters, but watching the curbs in your neighborhood on trash day can bring you some stuff as well. Cleaning out your garage, and your home for that matter, can increase your inventory. Construction sites, after construction is complete, can net you some usable wood that can be sold. Not to mention, you can also find tools that were left behind.
Now on to my 5 favorite ways to turn trash into cash.
1. Garage Sale/Yard sale
A very quick way to make some money from trash is to have a yard sale. Go through your house and gather up all of the stuff that you no longer use, even if it is broken. Instead of sending all of this stuff to a landfill to sit for a bazillion years, allow someone else to reuse your old junk. Just because you think that what you have is no longer usable, your trash may be exactly what someone else is looking for. I once scoured yard sales in my neighborhood looking for broken glass for a mosaic I was creating. I got some really funny looks when I asked for broken glass. I was told time and time again, that the person had thrown away a bunch of chipped plates and drinking glasses. There are lots of people that refurbish electronics as a hobby. That old broken down television that has been sitting in your garage for 5 years, would make an excellent project for that certain person. Everything has worth to the right person, and you never know when that person is going to show up looking for your trash.
2. Craigslist
One of the most incredible websites to hit the internet has got to be, IMO, Craigslist. It does not matter what you may happen to be looking for, there is a huge chance that you will find someone looking for what5 you are selling. After you have your collection of junk, hit Craigslist and start listing. Ads with pictures get more hits, so make sure you have a clear picture of the item you are selling.
3. Aluminum Cans
I would venture to say that aluminum cans is one of the most recycled materials. It is quiet easy to come by enough pop cans to make this venture worth your while as a recycler. Really, all you have to do is let everyone you know that you are recycling and chances are that thye will save their cans for you. About once per month go to the homes of the people that are saving cans for you and collect. Take the cans to the recycle center and walk away with cash in your pocket.
4. Refurbished Electronics.
If you are handy at bringing old electronics back to life then you can make some serious cash. Dead electronics can be found all over the place. Run an ad on Craigslist and you could very well be over ran by people getting rid of old items. Also, you can find things on the side of the road, or in dumpsters. After fixing the problem, list the item on eBay or Craigslist. Laugh all the way to the bank.
5. Copper everywhere
Copper brings in much more revenue than aluminum. The problem is that most people don't know where to find this metal. I find copper in places that most people don't think to look. When I drive around and see an old coffee pot or toaster sitting on the side of the road, I will stop and cut the chord off of it. After I have a bunch of chords I will strip the rubber off of them. I then take these to the recycling center, and walk away with cash.
