Make Money HubPages: HubChallenge

Welcome to my make money HubPages HubChallenge. The HubChallenge is not really a challenge to make money. The official information about the HubChallenge can be found below. It just so happens I was starting a series on HubPages to track my efforts & success of how to making money with HubPages and then the HubChallenge came along, which provides great motivation. I've decided to only aim for 30 Hubs in 30 days, but some are shooting for 100! Which do you think you can do?

But that doesn't mean you can't join HubPages and start cranking out some Hubs (and possibly some supplemental income). Now, my primary goal with this 30 Day HubChallenge is to increase my income with HubPages. I am not an expert at this, I'm experimenting right now and following others. I am already averaging $60-$70 per month with AdSense (and mostly just HubPages) and it grows each month. I've deemed AdSense to be my primary earner and will be optimizing most of my Hubs for better earnings with AdSense. I also make money with some of the other affiliate programs, but have found AdSense the easiest to earn with.

I say most of my earnings with AdSense come from HubPages because, while this is the main place I write, there are a few blogs I threw up that are bringing me a small portion of the income - I'd say no more than 5%.

So, in an attempt to up my earnings with AdSense I've jumped the train and will be creating 30 Hubs within the next 30 days. Actually, in conjunction with the other profile I created, I've already done 2 HubChallenge hubs, so 28 more to go (27 once this one is published). Again, I'd like to do more, but 30 is the absolute least I will do.

I'd say yes, everyone who has a chance to participate in the HubChallenge should, and here's why: Trend/Hot topics can bring you lots of traffic and a great opportunity to make money.

If you pay attention to the blog world (check out the RSS Feed to the right), the HubChallenge has created quite a bit of a stir. A lot of big (guru) internet marketers who hadn’t yet realized the potential of HubPages are stepping up and joining into the HubChallenge. And then there are internet marketers who have already been using HubPages as a make money platform and they are also joining in on the challenge.

Because the HubChallenge is only for 30 days, it will be probably become what is known as a “trend.” Trend topics and participating in trends can actually do your online efforts great justice because it will provide a chance for great link juice A.K.A. backlinks. The search engines love trend topics and you could receive some authority links to your work as well as some pretty decent income. Of course choosing the right keywords, with a bit of keyword research, is needed to help maximize your earnings. But overall, trend topics can also help you create a new crowd of fans or followers, especially if you write on subjects that are evergreen.

To date (May, 2009) I have been a member of HubPages for 16 months. I had only published 53 Hubs prior to the HubChallenge, but I have been making a small income with my efforts on HubPages. I always knew that HubPages had potential, I just hadn’t figured out how to maximize my earnings with the web 2.0 site.

What I’ve decided to do is set up a HubPages profile specifically tailored to one of the niches that I am currently targeting. I actually think I may set up two profiles, just for the fun of it. Of course, I will publish on both.

I have been following Griz’s method of making money online and have set up a few Blogger blogs. I also have followed the advice of Court and also set up a few WordPress blogs. So far, I’ve seen my WordPress blogs perform better in the search engines, but I like the ease of use & lack of knowledge needed to maintain a Blogger blog or HubPages hub. I figured if I set up a HubPages hub in a similar fashion that I created the WordPress and Blogger blogs, I should do fairly well in the SERP’s because of the authority that the HubPages domain has. So I will currently be using HubPages as my primary site in terms of writing and to make money with.

Once I publish my Hubs, I will also be doing what both Court and Griz recommend and I will slowly but gradually build backlinks to my Hubs. Actually, for certain keywords, I may even be able to dominate Google’s homepage by occupying more than one spot in the search results.
