Keyword Research

I have talked about keywords a little before, but I wanted to talk about the importance they can play in getting impressions and making money if you are planning on using PPC money making methods. So basically if you look through my post I give 2 keyword tools on one of them. I would use the Google keyword tool. When doing keyword research your goal should be to find a keyword that

1. Has a lot of searches per month
2. Doesn't have much competition (think if you could really rank well for that word)
3. Something you can write quality content about
4. Has a somewhat high cpc (cost per click)

What I typically do for keyword research using the google keyword tool is to just type in any word that has some sort of interest to me. I can do this for hours, looking around to see what words get a lot of view, and what words have a lot of competition. After I find a word that I think will look good I double check the competition by typing in that word or phrase on Google. By looking at the types of websites posted on the first page of search results and looking at the sponsored results on the right I can tell if it is going to be hard. For instance if you want to do a keyword and you look it up and get 100,000,000 search results and the top 10 results are from authority sites with pr 5+, and then you see it has a full side bar of sponsored links. This is a keyword that is going to be hard to rank on.

So make sure if your looking to start a new website, unless you already have something in mind that your really interested in doing, that you do keyword research and make sure you can rank in that particular phrase or keyword. While ranking in search engines isn't everything. Search engines can bring you the highest quantity and most valuable traffic.

Domain Name Parking

If you are new to Google Adsense or online PPC programs than you might be wondering what domain name parking is. Domain name parking is where you have no content at all on your website. You can sign up for an advertising program such Adsense and park your domains. What this does is fills your website with text ads. It will appear as a single page, with neatly organized ads placed all over the page. You can usually adjust the colors and keywords that go with the ads. You get paid just like if you had Adsense for Content for each click someone places on an ad. This option is usually more for people who have domains that they aren't using, and just want to put to use in some way. Adsense for content and other ppc programs are a much better way to go if you are willing to put thetime in to develop a website, if not domain name parking can work out alright for extra profit.

The people who tend to do best with domain parking are either those who had previously popular websites so that they are still receiving hits from the content they once had, or also those with generic domain names that show up in search results purely based on the domain name and nothing else.

If you want to park a domain name than their are several steps you must take.  One of which is pointing your domain to the parking company. For more information you would have to contact the specific domain parking company you use to use. Google domain parking is free, I know godaddy charges $2.99 or $3.99.

Domain parking is a short term strategy that is effective for big volume companies that deal in domains. They pay next to nothing for the domain and milk the existing traffic from existing links. I have yet to come across any individuals that are making any real money from it from small sites.
