It was been proven over and over again, that the traffic from search engines (people searching for something) click more on the adsense ads, You need to take this in consideration, and focus your work to get the more possible traffic from search engines. People coming from a search and landing in your website, will see related ads for their search, and the probability of clicking these ads, is huge. Always target the search engine traffic.

5. Dark website layouts can get you more clicks

I've made thousands of websites for me and for clients, that gave me a good experience in what colors result better with adsense. When your website has a darker background, my experience (after thousands of clicks) tells me that websites with darker backgrounds convert much better than websites with light backgrounds. If you can, take this in consideration and try to develop your website with a darker background, you'll see a big difference.
