The Internet is a wonderful money making tool if you know how to use it. Millions and millions of websites and blogs are starting up every year and many of them are now aimed at making money.  While it may initially seem unlikely to you that you can actually make money with a blog, a little investigation will show that as long as you can write (there is even a way around that), you can actually make money with a blog.

The first thing that you are going to have to do is pick something that you are interested in.  While you can expand to other areas later on, it is better to start off with something that you are familiar with while you learn how this works.  This can literally be anything, as long as you are versed in it.  This is going to make it easier for you when you are trying to generate content on your blog.

Once you have your topic, it is time to pick a platform that you are going to use.  There are plenty of free services available, such as WordPress and Blogger, or you can buy some hosting space and set it up that way.  Now there are usually some restrictions on sites like WordPress and depending what you are going to be blogging about, you may need to use an alternative or do as we suggested and host it yourself.

Setting up a blog is easy, but the key to your success.  You want to pick a name that is going to be unique to your niche, but also something that is going to be very search engine friendly.  It is always a good idea to somehow incorporate the niche into the title itself.  For example, if you are going to do a blog about home remedy treatments, you may want to try something like “HomeRemedy4U”.  When you enter the name of your blog, the site will let you know if it is available or not.  If your first idea is taken, keep trying until you find something that is available and that you like.

Keyword research is the next thing that you are going to have to do.  Google AdWords is great for this as they have a tool that enables you to enter a keyword and have other suggestions come up that people have used when searching for the same keyword that you have entered.  You will want to incorporate them into you text on your home page in a way that allows the page to read well and not be too pushy.  If you are just hammering the same keyword over and over, you are going to end up driving people away instead of getting their attention.

While you are on Google, you will want to open an Adsense Account with them as well. This is going to be one of the main ways that you are going to make money blogging. You have more than likely seen the ads that pop up on the sides and tops of pages when you are on the web. Google places these ads according to the content on the site to try and get people to buy those services from their advertisers. If someone clicks on the ad while they are on your site, you will end up earning a commission.

The next thing for you to do is open up Affiliatiate Account with places that sell things that are related to your niche. Once you do this, you will be supplied with banner ads and text links that let the company know when someone is using your link. Just like AdSense, you will receive a commission every time someone buys something using your link as their initial contact. Just don’t make your site look too trashy with banners everywhere. If you do this, your site may be a turnoff to people. Incorporate both the ads and the links to create a classic look that will be attractive to the reader.

Now that you have your blog set up and all your accounts opened, you are going to need to generate content. You should have a home page that tells everyone what your blog is about and that the search engines will pick up on and then some secondary pages that go into your topics. If you enjoy writing and are good at it, you can do all of this yourself. However, it is not actually necessary to write to make money blogging. You can also hire an article writing company to generate all of your content for you and then just post them as your own.

The last thing you are going to have to do is get your site noticed. To do this, you are going to have to continue to generate content for your site and at the same time, get backlinks created so you start to get indexed on Google. You can do this via reciprocal links and you may also want to publish articles with source boxes that lead people back to your site. If this is done properly (again, if you don’t know how to do this, you can always hire an SEO or writing company), your site should start to climb the Google ladder to page one and the next thing you know, people are using your site and more importantly, you are making money by blogging.
