Fun and Easy

Supplies needed:

12 inch Grapevine Wreath

1.5 Yards of Cloth

Hot Glue Gun and Hot Glue

Pair of Scissors

Various Holiday Decorations of Your choosing

The original wreath can be purchased at any craft store as well as in the craft department of Target, Kmart, or Walmart. If you want to save money and use a straw wreath, these work too, however, I prefer working with the Grapevine wreath, as it is much easier to hang and hot glue sticks to it better for me.

As for the cloth, I usually choose a cotton blend that is on sale. The color depends on the color scheme that the person receiving the wreath prefers. Usually it is red and/or green, but some prefer gold or blue or silver. I cut the cloth into strips that are approximately 3in. x 2in. The size can and should vary slightly from one strip to the next. If you want a fluffier looking wreath, you will want to cut the strips larger.

Fold the strips in half making them about 1.5 in. x 2 in., apply a small amount of hot glue to the wreath and then push the center fold against the glue, keeping the cloth between your finger and the glue. Continue gluing the pieces closely together until the wreath front is completely covered. You can choose to make a design by using different colored cloth strips. An easy pattern is to leave round openings in your main color, and then put a different color in these to create the impression of flowers.

Let the glue cool for at least 30 minutes, then choose where you like the ornaments and apply them to the wreath with hot glue.

My younger grandchildren like to pick out ornaments at the store and participate by choosing where they want them glued, and it makes for a great fun time spent together. These also make for nice gifts if you are on a budget and want to give a gift that you have made to a family member, friend or co-worker.

My favorite wreath is quite a collection of cloth chosen by my grandkids with ribbons and ornaments all over it. You can also glue silk flowers on the wreath if you prefer. It's simple and fun to do.
