For some choosing the right foundation can be daunting... not knowing how well it will work can put us off spending money on the decent make-up; leading us to the cheaper stuff that never works as well.

I'v been through loads of different foundations, constantly searching for ones that work as well as they say they do. Every time a new one pops up on the market I'm straight in there to get it.

As a beauty therapist im constantly putting make-up on the widest range of skin, so I'v put together a list of Foundations that are as good as they say.

If you have... Spots:

This is the most common reason people want to wear foundation. But concealing spots isn't as easy as you would expect. Some foundations can make your spots worse, irritate your skin and leave you regretting that you spent £25 on that tiny little bottle.

My advice is to stay away from foundations if you have spots, no matter how bad they are.

Try using Clinique Anti-blemish Concealer (£11.95)to cover up all kinds of spots. It has a rather thick texture that helps cover well, without leaving you feeling clogged. Its barely noticeable green tint helps to mask redness and its anti-bacterial agents help to quickly clear up any imperfections.

This is my number 1 concealer that I use myself whenever I need it so I definitely recommend it.

Coverage: Med-High

Value for money: 9/10

If you have... Dry/Oily Combination Skin:

Another one from Clinique, their Superfit Foundation (£19) is brilliant, it leaves you with a lovely dewy glow and stays put all day, without streaking or smudging its a great foundation if your always on the go.

If you suffer from acne this is not an ideal foundation as its an oil based formula.

Coverage: Med-High

Value for money: 8/10

If you have... Fairly Good Skin and want light coverage:

Having good skin is a blessing, but if you feel the need to wear foundation try Maybelline's Dream Matte Moussefor a light foundation with light-natural coverage. Unlike Maybelline's new foundation Dream Satin Liquid Foundation, their Dream Matte Mousse is still one of their best sellers for a simple reason.. its good. And with 13 different shades to choose from your bound to find one that's right for you.

Coverage: Natural-Light

Value for money: 7/10

If you have... Fairly good skin but struggle finding the right shade:

Try out Revlon's Beyond Natural foundation. Their innovative new foundation comes out of its tube pure white, with small green colour releasing pigments. As you blend the foundation onto your skin its clever technology releases the pigment to blend into your natural skin tone... giving you just a hint of extra color and a healthy looking glow.

When I first tried this one I was amazed at how well it worked, and fascinated by how it works!

Coverage: Light - Med

Value for money: 9/10

If you have... Good skin and just want a bit of color:

Try Natural Collection's Tinted Moisturisers. Even though they cost only £1.95 they are decent products that dont harm or irritate your skin. Perfect for wearing in the summer they give a tint of colour while hydrating your skin all day, without turing you orange!

Coverage: Very Light

Value for money: 10/10
