I have been doing a lot of research lately to find out what the best selling baby items are in today's market. The first item I came across was the famous "Diaper Cake". When i first seen the words "Diaper Cake", I immediately thought of an edible cake made to look like it was made from diapers. I was still curious as to how they made them, so i took a look at the website. WOW! This was my first reaction when I read on what diaper cakes contain. Ever since I researched them, I got the ambition to open my own online store and sell them. They are selling like hot "cakes!"

A diaper Cake can be made in one tier or more. I have done more research on them and it seems 5 tiers is the largest they come. Would you like to learn how to make one? Well I'll be more than happy to tell you how! If you would rather buy one, Check out: www.amandajanegifts.ecrater.com I sell all sizes, and MANY different types, styles, colors, boy, girl, neutral, and MORE!!!!

Learn to "Bake" a diaper cake:

Ingredients: Approx. 70-100 diapers

Small Baby Gifts for Decorations

Ribbon

Rubber Bands (optional)

1 Wooden Dowel

Round Cake Plate or round base (pizza pans work well also)

Step 1: Take one diaper, roll it starting with the "open" end to the bottom of the diaper. You can use a rubber band or ribbon to tie the rolled diaper to stay in place. This step is sued to make the top tier of the diaper cake. In stead of using a diaper, you could also use a large baby bottle for the direct center of the cake.

Step 2: Take 7-10 rolled diapers tied separately with a rubber band or ribbon, and place them in a circle around the center diaper or baby bottle.

Step 3: To make the middle layer, repeat steps one and two, but this time instead of adding only 7 diapers, add 15-20 diapers to form a circle around a baby bottle or another rolled diaper.

Step 4: For the bottom layer of the diaper cake, repeat step 3, but this time, add 30-40 rolled and tied diapers.

Step 5: For the base, you can use cardboard or a plastic cake base (recommended), Place your diaper cake on the round base.

Step 6: Place the bottom layer of the diaper cake on the base. To add items, remove one diaper and replace it with a baby item, but do not remove more than 2-3 diapers. You can take smaller baby items and "hide" them in the cake so they appear invisible. And when the reciepients start using the cake, they will find suprises all over.

Step 7: Repeat step 6 for the middle layer of the cake. Also, do the same for the top layer, but only remove 1-2 diapers for the top tier. But do not add the other layers to the bottom layer of the cake yet!!

Step 8: Take a small wooden dowel and place in around the center of the diaper cake bottom layer. Then you can add the middle layer, and the top layer as well.

Step 9: Place ribbon around the outside of each layer to create a "fancy" look.

Step 10: Give to the lucky new parent! You may even want to put the cake in a fancy netting or cellophane bag for a more elegant appeal!

This is just one way to make a diaper cake. You cna experiment and make your own! Also, you can make as many "tiers" (Layers) as you want! If you are going to a baby shower and want your gift to make an impression, make it BIG! The bigger you make it, the more it will cost, but the expecting parents will be so thankful!

I have been trying to sell Diaper Cakes on Ebay and nobody seems to want to pay anything for them. They don't even offer what the diapers are worth

I have thought about selling them on ebay also, but after watching some of the auctions, i too have noticed that they do not sell very well or they do not sell for what they are worth. I have had a lot of luck selling them by making brochures and sending them out or putting up flyers everywhere...(I seem to have luck by putting flyers above the bathroom stalls...many people see those...the mall is the best location!)
