There are instances when this type of marketing can be valuable, this happens through word of mouth. There is also implicit marketing, this is basically the self formed opinions that a customer will formulate on their own, without being told to believe anything. One of the biggest reasons people don't buy comes down to peer pressure. The worry is that you won't be able to convince other people, friends and family mostly, that it was a good investment to make.
