Making Money Online on these Websites

Working Online
No matter how much is written about working online from home, it continues to be a hot topic. I just checked with the google adwords tool for the phrase "work from home" and saw that 2,240,000 more people had asked the same question globally this month. I guess making money is always a draw for most people. None of us are millionaires and yes that little extra cash does come in handy.
The work from home opportunities have increased dramatically since the time the internet took root. Today working from home has become an accepted social career. Finding legitimate work from home is no longer a problem. Sure there are some scams that take in the newcomer looking for work at home jobs, but it is possible to weed these out and concentrate on stuff that really allows you to make an income online.
Initially to earn extra cash people would take on data entry jobs from home. It is quite a regular feature even today, but its drone work. It is totally repetitive and there is no creative satisfaction. Which if you consider yourself a writer can be an absolutely frightening experience. I tried it and lasted for exactly one month. Hated every day of it.
Then come the work from home freelance sites. These allow you to bid on jobs and if the employer likes what he sees, you have a project to work on. The rates are all rather flexible. The same 500 word article can fetch you anything from $1 to $10 depending on who you are selling it to. If you can to KWP or Keyword Phrases well to figure in search engine result pages, you can ask for more money per article.
And then there are the membership sites. These allow you to make money online by chatting, gaming, or viewing ads. All of which take a very minimal level of intelligence. They also have online surveys that you get paid for. Unfortunately most of these sites are US centric and do not offer global work at home opportunities.

My share
Where you will find me
Now as I mainly earn money through freelancing I am to be found on Odesk, Elance, Guru, Rent a Coder, Get a coder and Get a Freelancer. I initially signed up for all the sites I could lay my hands on. Now I realise that it was not the great idea it seemed at the time. I have multiple mails coming in from all the sites and I am flooded with mails I take ages to sort out.
So despite having dicovered new sites where I can find work such as problogger, wahms, and online writing jobs, besides i freelance, I have decided to stick with the few sites I am comfortable with. So as of now I have projects on in Guru, Elance, and Odesk. I also take up smaller projects on Rent a Coder as and when time permits.
Writing what others want you to write can be economically beneficial but is creatively frustrating. For creative freedom and poetry there is no place like triond. I am very much present there, joined up in May first week. Have recently been paid for the month of May so, I know they are very prompt with the pay.
I am also to be found on Associated Content with just 4-5 articles. I did join them some time back, but found hubpages far more addictive. So I have more hubs here than I have content on Associated Content. On Bukisa with about 35 articles and almost a month, I am no where near their payment threshold of $10. So can't say if they pay or don't. Guess I'll write in an update when these two sites deliver.

CEO E.S.A.H.S. Association
thanks a lot cashmere another good one from you...i took notes of all the sites you've mentioned. thanks again.
My pleasure married woman! Hope it helps you.
Thank you for this valuable information on the various websites of which you are a member. I wrote down and circled Odesk, eLance and Guru of which I am a member of eLance.
I also had the idea to join a myriad of writing sites and settled on eHow and Hubpages. Associated Content, I have not published on will probably contribute to next.
Associated Content are paying between $5 and $10 to write a certain number of articles.
Triond, is an excellent writing site for creative prose however the pay is very low although they do pay promptly as you mentioned.
I have written about 150 articles on Triond and now only receive cents instead of dollars as on eHow and Hubpages. But if you are writing to be published, then Triond is OK.
Thank you for writing a hub as an answer to the question.
Thanks, cashemere, for this very comprehensive overview of the different sites and possiblities in the internet. I was not aware of most of them, I will bookmark it and check them out.
Great Hub! Thanks for all the information, especially with this economy, we can all benefit from some extra cash. I'm going to look into a few of these.

Whoa, people pay other people to write their hubs?! (Referring to text brokers) that's crazy....how can you tell the different?! hmmmm I'm too cheap to pay others to write for me lol
yes Richard its been known to happen. Not everyone has the turn of phrase we at hubpages consider second nature.
wonderful hub.
I love writing and reading these kinds of hubs

I just started with Ehow and Hubpages. I'm new to both. I have heard that can take hundreds of articles to start making anything. But that's ok I'm in it more because I like writing than anything else. I just published my first hub http://hubpages.com/hub/How-to-get-free-samples-in
I'll see how it goes after 100. It must be hard in India when everything is so centered around the US. Best of luck to you.
Great Hub! I will be coming back to follow the links. Thanks.

Even I had some success on Guru.com Ashley. I didn't list it here because the projects for writers are sporadic on Guru. They send you may be one or two projects a week, while the other sites always have work available.

With so many traditional jobs disappearing I wonder what is in store for those of us who make our livings online. More competition surely, but hopefully more opportunities as well. Thanks for the great list of sites. I'm to check them out.
Me Hubber thanks for becoming a fan.
Hey Madhav you changed your pic?
Tigermadstanley, that's why I wrote it. So often people tell you that you can make money here and there, but they have no idea how it works.
Kayte, nice to meet a fellow freelancer! Have you tried out a site called constant content? Its a good place to write pre requested articles.
Pen Style that is true. Hope the economy recovers soon!
No, i missed it. my account is with A Aryan. I read your article there, it seems you are just completing the formality of completing articles, i mean exactly 300 words u write.. Cmmon make them more useful after all they gone benefit you only. Like i did " human resource management " till now i got around 700 impressions and 35 clicks through that single article only... i mean thats great... expertscolumn rocks..:-)
Ezdia is also a freelancing site. It is similar to linkedin but additional feature of knowledge bucket where you can post your expertise. project owner search you through your expertise.
we have to pay money in order to get project from getafreelancer but Ezdia is absolutely free.
visit http://ezdia.com
Great information for an newbie like me. Thanks!
inforcity, tell me how to check the stats on experts column, its so much more organized here on hubpages.
Maria, you don't have to pay money to get information about all the jobs on getafreelancer. Many are available at the basic level.
Jean, hope it helps!
you can add url channels in your adsense account. just copy url of your articles and them in adsense account. it will display.
Great and informative article. I love Hubpages so much and am probably going to stick around here more. I've researched other sites, but I'm more familiar with HP..

Thanks for the informative review on each sites. Great hub!

Nice to see some links outside the USA. Too many people think the Internet is only USA.
that is good, because i am outside of usa, thanks is article
Have associated content pay for non US resident? They ask my IRS. Of course, I have no IRS because I am not US.
It's interesting to see how people from different countries view different opportunities.
Thank you mchebli72 and Chris crow.
Infocity, I saw the new feature. Great news.
Crazybeanrider, I'm not too active on xomba. Will do the needful after the kid starts schooling again.
Singular investo,gmca25r and mikeNV thanks for the feedback.
Forlan, Associated Content only give page impressions to non US. So no IRS, no pay from AC.
MikeNV differences are what make the whole gambit so interesting.
Thanks for a great Hub. Keep telling me where I get money ha ha ha
My pleasure Hello
associated content also ask our IRS so I think AC just for US resident.
Very good info. I am trying a few different things myself.
Thanks for the helpful information. It will help newbies like me, keep it up..
MForlan, if you are being paid only for displat u don't need the irs.
mroricle do share what u r into.
