Male Body Shaving

Are you looking to get rid of unwanted hair? You are not alone, in fact more and more men are every day getting interested in body hair removal. There are many options to get rid of unwanted hair, and shaving is of them.

Before you engage into your shaving ritual know these first two things: It is probable that your skin will irritate the first few times you shave. When the hair starts growing back it will itch.

Remember that shaving your body hair is like shaving your face, and because of this, you'll have to take the same steps toward its care:

  1. Clean the area to be shaved.
  2. Take a hot water bat to soften the hair
  3. Use a quality shaving cream.
  4. Moisturize the shaved are and use a toning lotion.

Tips for Male Body Shaving

Over time I have found some great tips that are very useful when you want to start shaving your body hair. This is what has worked for me:

  • Use a razor blade that has a few uses. I find it difficult to shave my legs and forearms without ending up with tiny cuts.
  • Don't shave the same area until the redness goes away. You can infect your skin this way.
  • Wait until the skin is fully healed and shave again.
  • Treat your body's skin like your face's skin. The skin is the largest organ and it has to be taken care of in every place.
  • Wear non-irritating clothes. I like to use cotton.
  • I personally prefer using shaving gels than foam creams. They are less messy. Take your time. Don't hurry when shaving.

Trim Your Hair Before You Shave It

Too many people skip the step of trimming body hair before actually shaving it, but it is very important.

Trimming your hair on one hand will make shaving much, much easier. When you have long body hair, the hair will get stuck in the razor blade, clogging it, and only allowing you to shave a very tiny portion of your skin. On the other hand, trimming the hair will leave you less possibilities of damage or cuts, simply because the blade is not pulling the hair.

How to trim your body hair?

I personally use the Bodygroom, a shaver made specially for body hair. It is very nice, but you have to use it with patience in order to get the most out of it. You can use it even in the shower. However if you don't have a tool like this, you can use scissors. Though it takes more time. Use scissors with care, I'd recommend round cornered scissors, as they are safer.

I found that if you use the new Norelco Bodygroom wet electric razor it works great, no cuts. You use it in the shower where you get a cleaner job done. Works for me, I don't like body hair on myself or anyone, where not apes.

Totally agree I've been shaving my chest, pubic area and back side for a few years - can be fun when you're doing it, especially if someone is there to help. The look afterwards is much better - everything is clear to see :)

I am glad you enjoy the advice on this hub! As Gav says, this can be fun, however many men are afraid of putting a razor down there!

Good advise, I shall hop to it! And yes it's very scary putting a razor down there.
