Genital Warts (or condyloma) is a Sexually Transmitted Disease (STD) caused by the human papilloma virus (HPV). The virus may cause wart-like bumps to form on the penis, in and around the vagina, on the cervix (opening to the womb), around the anus (butt), and rarely on the mouth. The virus is passed between people during anal, vaginal, and sometimes oral sex. These are NOT the same warts commonly found on hands and feet.

Male genital warts symptoms include sores and blisters on the genital area, and pain when urinating if the urine passes over the sores. Some people also experience additional symptoms of fever or a flu-like feeling, a burning pain, muscle aches, back pain, and headaches. Some people also find that they have swollen glands as well as a pressure in the abdomen and discharge from the penis.

Consult with you doctor if you are displaying signs and symptoms of male genital warts. It is vital to confirm that your condition is male genital warts and not a rash. If your condition is genital warts, you must immediately cease sexual activity with other people, and begin treatment.

Male genital warts are sometimes called HSV. HSV is further sub-typed into type 1 HSV and type 2 HSV. You would normally get the type 1 HSV infection in and around the mouth and nose area, and the type 2 HSV infection in and around the genital area.

Genital warts can grow if you do not get them treated. If you are sexually active, you also risk infecting your partner.

Certain kinds of HPV can cause abnormal cells to grow on the cervix. Sometimes, these cells can become cancerous if left untreated. Other kinds of HPV can cause cancer of the vulva, vagina, anus or penis.

There is no cure for male genital warts. There are treatments and medications to provide care and treatment for the symptoms of male genital warts.

Some male genital warts symptoms may sometimes recur, since the immune system needs some time to fight off the herpes virus from the body. Needless to say, avoid any further sexual contact with a person who also has been diagnosed with male genital warts.

Finally, some people may not even know they have this condition, since the symptoms can be mild. They may think they have nothing more than a rash. If this describes you, and you have had contact with other genital warts sufferers, take the insurance step of consulting with a doctor.
