First Impression of Malibu Pilates® Chair

The Malibu Pilates® Chair is an in-home exercise device designed for portable, total body fitness. Intended for Pilates workouts, the chair is supposed to enable cardio moves that are easier to do, but still challenging. After looking into the chair and its purposes, I’m inclined to say the chair may indeed enhance the average consumer’s Pilates routine. However, there seems to be little reason to select Malibu Pilates® brand over any of the other myriad Pilates exercise enhancers. This, of course, leaves the consumer in a difficult position, trying to divine the difference between so many similar items.

Malibu Pilates® attempts to set itself apart by claiming that, with this chair, Pilates practitioners will sculpt legs, arms, buttocks, thighs, and abs with every single move. And according to the product website, chair users can expect to lose at least one pant or dress size within the first ten days of Malibu Pilates® Chair use. I was a bit confused by this marketing ploy, however. It’s not clear if chair users will experience this much weight loss and toning because of the chair in particular, or because of serious Pilates workouts in general. Without knowing which is responsible, it’s hard to say that just using a Malibu Pilates® Chair will promote significant weight loss.

Malibu Pilates® Chair & What it Does

A purchase of the Malibu Pilates® Chair comes with an introductory DVD, workout programs, an eating guide, and a wall chart. The Malibu Pilates® Chair is a lightweight, sturdy, convenient, and easy-to-store device. And if you’ve ever purchased in-home exercise equipment, you know how important such features are. Malibu Pilates® Chair looks like a sort of fancy step stool, with a steel frame and black padding that appears to be decently made and durable. The chair assists in a variety of Pilates workouts, and so it’s up to the consumer to determine its most significant and useful role in an overall exercise regimen.

The workout programs are spread out across the following three DVDs: 20-Minute Malibu Pilates® Makeover is whole-body sculpting workout that lasts 20 minutes a day.

Total Dream Body Sculpting Workout is simply the longer version of the 20-Minute program, but with cardio spurts for an added challenge and benefit.

Mari’s Dynamic Sequencing Workout is directed by instructor Mari Winsor. This third workout lasts for approximately 30 minutes and is again supposed to tone the entire body.

The Malibu Makeover Manual & Eating Right Guide introduces Pilates practitioners to the proper ratio between regular Pilates exercise and healthy eating. When combined with an exercise regimen like Malibu’s, the eating guide is the last, but crucial, element in Malibu Pilates®.

Drawbacks to Malibu Pilates® Chair

As I mentioned above, there is little to set Malibu Pilates® apart from the rest of the Pilates pack. I’ve found plenty of Pilates companies that will significantly enhance the consumer’s exercise performance, and they all have plenty to offer. It’s not that Malibu Pilates® is bad, but that it’s not that great. And when it comes to my diet and exercise regimen, I want top-notch stuff to help me on my way to healthy, sustainable weight management.

Would I Use Malibut Pilates® Chair?

I wouldn’t mind giving it a try, though I’d like to get to a place where I don’t require equipment for exercise. This is not feasible for some, but bodyweight workouts are a great way to decrease dependence on things and increase whole body fitness.

Response to Malibu Pilates® Chair

In keeping with Malibu Pilates® Chair’s middle-of-the-road image, there is not a lot of negative or positive response to the product. It’s simply a decent piece of equipment when used correctly and diligently.
