South Indian Actress Gopika is familiarly known for her cute face, homely looks and superb acting skills. After remarkable presence in tamil, telugu and mallu(her own language) films, it is her time to get settled into family system.
She got engaged to Dr. Ajilesh, a medical practitioner based in Ireland. The engagement ceremony took place in Gopika's home town of Trissur on 13th of this month. Actress Bhavana, Ramya Nambeesan, Samyuktha and Kerala State ministers Rajendran and Viswanathan and many others were present on the occasion.
Then, she got married to Ajilesh on July 17. The marriage was solemnised by Metropolitan Abraham Mar Savarios at the Mar Thoma Church, Kothamangalam. Marriage was attended by few relatives and close friends which was followed by a reception held at the St George Cathedral parish hall, Kothamangalam.

Interesting hub weblog. I once remember watching an interesting documentary about Christians in India and this actress must be Christian since she went to a church for her wedding, or did she just want to get married there. I am just curious. Thanks for promoting my hub by the way.
I'm not sure if she is a Christian, but I guess He is a christian. And, some of the Indian Christians like to mix it with some of hindu wedding ceremonies as they like the culture.
I think among some trendy folks in India (I think actors are included in this) they want something exotic and different. Western type wedding gowns with veil are very trendy I have heard. So maybe trendy folks, even non-Hindus may opt for this to be very different....

I think it is a marriage of mix cultures. In red dress, the wedding goes on according to Hindu trdition and while in white dress it is in christian tradition.

I believe Gopika is a Christian catholic girl.Her original name is Girly Anto.Her husband is a christian Jacobite boy. In Kerala Christian wedding, the bride will wear a white saree or white gown.After the "Minnukettu" ie, tying the wedding knot (or magalsutra) , the bride will be crowned with "Mantra kodi" ie "Blessed Wedding Saree" which will usually be dark colors usually Red,Maroon etc. This saree is bought by the bridegroom and is given to the bride after the wed knot which symbolises that the bride now belongs to the family of bride groom.The "mantra kodi saree" is blessed by the Priest who heads the marriage , hence it is sacred.
