Mamma Mia! is a great time. It was just pure fun! Meryl Streep was terrific and the supporting cast of Julie Walters, Christine Baranski, Colin Firth, Stellan Skarsgard, and Amanda Seyfried were all wonderful. Pierce Brosnan isn't the best singer, but his acting was still terrific.

The plot of the original Mamma Mia! Broadway show and this movie were loosely based on the 1968 film Buona Sera with Gina Lolabrigita, which is about an Italian woman who has relationships with three American GIs in a short period of time during WW II and isn't sure which one got her pregnant.

The plot of Mamma Mia! has been updated a bit, but it's still basically about a woman who slept with three different men in a short period of time, got pregnant, and had a baby girl. Twenty years later, the daughter, is getting married, she finds her Mom's diary and the entries where the Mom talks about her trists, tracks down the men her Mom slept with and invites them to her wedding.

The Greek islands, Skopelos and Skiathos where Mamma Mia! was filmed were gorgeous and absolutely breath taking. It made me want to board a plane to Greece tomorrow!

I wasn't an ABBA fan before going to see Mamma Mia!. However, between the music, scenery, performances, and pacing, it transformed me from someone who had disdain for this 70s group to dare I say . . . a fan.

People came out of this movie singing and dancing, something I haven't seen before. If that's not a recommendation and a show of a good time, I don't know what is. I'm even tempted to see it again!! And that never happens.
