Man-Made Art. Awesome Sand Sculptures from Around the World, Dedicated to Miss Dottie
72Sand Sculpting is truly one of the most difficult arts to master. Firstly you can get frustrated just by looking for the right place, the right type of sand to create your sculpture, Secondly if it rains while you are halfway to completing your masterpiece, you are definitely screwed, Thirdly unlike other arts creating each part of your sand sculpture requires different moulds and by its nature the mould can only be used once and needs to be reformed for each casting. But once you get past all those obstacles the end product is always magnificent. Miss Dottie a hubber who is very close to my heart, love sand sculptors and it took me 2 weeks to compile photos of some of the greatest sand sculptures ever created by well known artists around the world. Their creation is really awesome, you got to see to believe. So enjoy.

I love sand sculptures! This Summer I´ll visit Portugal´s greatest Sand Sculpture Festival for the fourth time. You can watch some pictures of it on my "Pictures from Algarve" hub ;)
I bet Dottie will love this hub. Thumb up!
This is a fantastic collection. Thanks so much for hubbing about it, and keep it coming!
Feeling kind of guilty that you are missing some snoozetime looking up my hub Miss Violet. But i love the fact you like it so much. You are so wonderful always having something nice to say about my work and i really love you for that. I wish i can do a hub for you based on something you really like. Please do tell me Miss Violet. I would love piecing together a hub for a beautiful woman like you. Love you so much. Sweet dreams
Mr CHRIS thank you for dropping by to take a look at my hub. Glad you like it. Agree Miss Dottie is really adorable and not only that she is really a wonderful human being. She is so loving and such a sincere passionate friend. I was so happy that i could do something for her. Your card which i promised you is already 3/4 done. I will post it in the forums so that others could pass on some birthday wishes to you. Once again Thank you for stopping by Mr Chris
Fun Ride buddy how are you my friend? Really glad you could take sometime off to visit my hub. So you are a regular to this festival? I only have went to one of this beach gala once in Italy and some of the sculptures can make your jaws drop. I love to see the sculptures of sexy girls. They are kind of erotic in a way and never fail to turn me on even if they are made of sand he he. My fetish you can say. Thank you buddy and i would sure look up that hub of yours you mentioned.
Life by Design thank you my friend for stopping by. I'm glad you liked this art collection. i appreciate your kind words. Thank you once again.
Truely amazing! I wish I could see all of those.

Ashwin, thank you soooo much! ROFLOL at all your funny comments. They are making me laugh so out LOUD...people in my house here are thinking I'M gone nuts!
I tell them don't worry, it's just ASHWIN, he's gone nuts pulling out his father's gold tooth! And then there came BUBBA, lovable BUBBA!~ I am so enjoying all of this amazing sand art along with all the detail and the time spent in creating and knowing it could all vanish in a seconds flash.
Thanks for your gift Ashwin and the time YOU spent putting together for me and making me LAUGH SO MUCH. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
As you know why I got here late today, right? Too much late partying going on last night at G-Ma's. It was worth the late hours, to get up to seeing this masterpiece you have created. Thumbs up a million times, a click or two, another thank you and God Bless you!
Sincerely,
Lots of Love
From ~Dottie~
Oh sorry, I couldn't leave. I had to check this wonderful sand displays out again. I'll be back, I know I will. LOL. I am sooo happy!
Good Morning Miss Dottie, hehe while its time for you to get up its time for people around this side to go and sleep 1.10am here, Im so glad you liked the pictures so much. Actually i must thank you for it. I have seen some of the art while i was visiting Italy once but while searching for material to publish this hub i managed to come across some extraordinary work which i would not have managed to see otherwise. So its kind of a win win for both of us. Hope this cleared the Monday blues. God Bless You Too Miss Dottie Good Night.
I see you found the one I posed for "the boy I'm stuffed". My sculptures are limited to a pair of breasts. my son two years old, yeah, he sculpts the same thing.
So Mr Toad, hope you liked your self portrait. Actually with that name this picture here would make a good profile picture and how appropriate that would be since the color too goes with the last name. Feel free to use it as your avatar if you wish to. Boy you are hilarious. Thanks for dropping by My friend
I was just going to steal it without your permission anyways, but you saved us both from an uncomfortable moment.
hahaha. You are crazy buddy. really mad. Good night
Great art.. There is a place in Yucaipa California called "Bible Land" .. and there are scenes from different scriptures, all done in sand. The most notable is the last supper/ The little old man had worked his whole life doing it..and he used to live there in the park.
yes Mr Mike i think i came across a few photos of the art you are talking about and they do look awesome indeed. But to publish them you got to have the whole set if not it defeats the purpose hence my reluctance to display them here. Maybe next time in another hub. And thanks for the bits of info and history. and Thank you for commenting. Glad you liked the art.
These are breathtaking and beautiful. It must have taken them days to do these.
Ashwin my baby boy comes through yet again...you are the best...
Here where I live we also have a sand castle festival every year...I think this year I shall go take photo's to share...also we have an artist that etched a whole story in the sand banks and they lasted for a long time...was in the news and people came from everywhere to view them...I do Have 35 mll. pics. of that tho...
And I am sure Miss Dotti will love this...well actually I see that she did...and too bad you missed our late night party...us women had fun...
Love you sweet thing...G-Ma :o) Hugs & Peace
What awesome pictures. Being an "inlander" (actually as far in as you can get without being closer to the other side), pictures are about as close I can get to these beauties! I did see a butter sculpture at the county fair last year. Does that count? It was kept in an all-glass rotating refrigerator. I always wondered how much toast that covered when the fair was over.......
Anyway.....................
The dedication to Miss Dottie is what brought me here (First time to one of your hubs), but this amazing collection of art is what will bring me back!
Excellent job, my friend!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Lady Guinevere thank you for your lovely compliments. Yes it took me a while compiling the best of these art, but i managed to see some incredible sand art in the process and the effort was totally worth it. Glad you liked them too.
Ashwin: Looked at the photos again, and its amazing artists can do this! Thanks for the offer to find pictures for me. :) I love ice sculptures, but not sure if you have done one already, would have to check your hubs.
The comments are funny, as Dottie says, the golden tooth one, also made me laugh.
Good Morning Nana, late night get together??? Wow must have been great chatting away. Miss Dottie seem to love the pictures and it felt really good reading her comments just when i was about to hit bed. An entire story etched on sand? That must have been incredible. I would literally take thousands of pictures on my digtal camera and keep it with me because you will never know if you are going to see this kind of art ever again Its 6.30. Need to prepare for work now. Join you later Nana. Hope you having a great day. Bless you Nana Sweetie bye
Ashwin- Great photos and funny captions. Amazing hub and I once saw in a beach a sand castle but this is beyond compare.
Violet- Here is a hub about Ice sculpture http://hubpages.com/hub/Harbin-Ice-Festival
Hope you guys like it.
Proud mum thank you very much for your lovely comments. yes this is the first time you are commenting on one of my hubs and im glad you will be back Though butter sculptures are a difficult skill to master, sand art is still in another league altogether. Great question you asked too. How many toast will be needed once the fair is over he he... Hope to see you soon Proud Mum. You sounds like a lots of fun. Have a great day.
Actually Miss Violet my next hub will be of ice sculptures. When i was gathering the photos for the sand art i came across some incredible ice sculptures and all i need is a few more masterpieces and the ice art hub will soon be ready. I don't think i ever did a hub based on Ice art before. So look out for it Miss Violet and thank you once again for visiting this hub. Have a great day
Good Morning Miss CW. MMM guess you beat me to the ice sculpture hub. Ice sculptures are fantastic too. Once finished they will shine color light into it to give the sculpture a magical glow which is really beautiful. I have seen quite a lot in weddings. I'm off to see your hub Miss CW Hope you have a great day and thank you for dropping by
That's not my hub. I just searched for it since violet asked for it. But I hope you like it. Btw I am waiting for your funny contribution to http://hubpages.com/forum/topic/10345
And now I am promoting something...LOL
Miss CW I thought it was your hub but got to thank you for sending me over to Sparkling Jewel's hub on Ice sculptures. The photos were simply amazing and beautiful. It would really be difficult to top that. Let me try.BTW you have all the right to post whatever you want here or any of my other hubs Miss CW. You are doing us a favor by pointing to places where we can have lots of fun. So Miss CW just post anything you want. I would love you to use my capsules. I would really feel honored and overjoyed. so please don't hesitate to use them for whatever purpose you like Miss CW. Going to leave for work now. Got to beat the Monday morning traffic jams. bye
p/s: i will think of something funny while driving and add it to the forum thread once i reach my office. Hope i can come up with a El Classico :=)
Glad you liked those pictures. Have a great day and hope you reach the office well in time. Thanks for that offer and I am now looking forward to the a El Classico :=)

Hi ESAHS. Thank you for your kind words my friend. As usual just love your description of my hub. Make me and my work so learned and academic and that's a good thing. thank you my friend.
CW: Just checked the ice sculptures, wow, really cool. Thank you for letting us know. Mentioned Ashwin's hub in the comment section, so other's know about the awesome photographs we have here.
Yes in deed, you did a wonderful job with this hub. Got to love it. Both thumbs up for your effort.
I've done some googling today to see if there are any sand sculpting around my area. It seems this art is becoming more and more popular on beaches all over the country and the world. There are several competition scheduled near me for 2009. I would love to spend a day taking in the ocean, sunbathing and watching the sculptors perform their magic. Thanks Ashwin again, you made my day very special! :)
These are beautiful photos and doubly special because it is for Dottie! She is definitely one very wonderful lady. :-) Great job Ahswin. :-)
