Yes, I think the magazine ran out of articles, maybe they should blogs like Hubpages to get more news.
I think the stroy was a legitimate expose. Although I agree that confessions should remain secret, I don't see why secrecy should be extended to the judgments rendered by priests. Religions, like other social institutions are not off limits to examination and criticism. Intelligence and law enforcement agencies are inflitrating Mosques all over the world, and there is no shortage of criticism of them in the press.
I agree with your Ralph, there is secrecy breach everywhere, we can say ok to this but not ok for others. This expose wasn't bad didn't go too much into their private lives, it is a prank it hurt them I think. The guy could have done differently asked them directly what their views were.
It could be looked at as a kind of quality control for the judgments issued by priests in confessionals. If they are passing out nutty advice to penitents I don't see why they should be shielded from exposure. I'm not Catholic, but my understanding that the purpose of the sanctity of the confessional is to protect the person making his or her confession, not for the protection of the priest. I believe the law affords similar protection of communications from clients to lawyers and patients to their psychiatrists.
I think that secrecy breeds dysfunction.
Thanks Jenna, it is better to be truthful, then they shouldn't have any worries about the consequences, only falsehood needs to worry.
