Using Facebook to promote Entertainment Events

Entertainment Agencies, promoters, entertainment venues and even self managed Artists all face the same promotion challenge.

How to get your Act or Event noticed!

Increasingly most are using digital means to promote their events, and with some success.

For example here are some of the means used by our clients.

Facebook: Facebook wont help your Google Web site page rankings, but it can be used to virally market through your network.

Facebook apparently does not allow Google and other search engines to index it. If true it provides a whole segment of the web community that is search engine free, hence an seo free zone. Translated this means that your organic search engine ranking is irrelevant within facebook.

So if you wish to access this community you need to have a different approach.( I read once that if Facebook was a country it would be the 5th largest in the world).

To use Facebook effectively you need content that is appealing and interesting to the community. Build your direct connections and contacts, and if the content is of interest then there contacts and friends will connect to you. Hence you can begin to virally market through the community. The key to Facebook though is content that is appealing and interesting.

Once you have got peoples interest you need to have some sort of action that can convert their interest to a ticket sale or an attendance.

Website

You can link your website to facebook. However most websites are static, unless they have some form of content management system.

If you have a content management system, that enables you to change details about forth coming events or changes in your acts, then this content can be automatically linked to facebook.

Hence making a change in your website content will automatically alert your facebook contents that you have made a change. This saves effort and begins to create automated workflow marketing.

Having created traffic then the next requirement is to be able to convert interest to action. Your web site should be your conversion point. People with interest should be able to express interest or reserve or book tickets to the event through your site. Such inquiries however must be automatically linked to your event sales lead system.

Why because you can have multiple sources of inquiries not just the web, ie email, telephone etc. All must be managed through one system in order to have a single view of the events ticket sale or interest level performance.

Other Useful Tools

Scribd. This site enables you to upload your event brochure. Once uploaded the brochure, (you choose key words) is made available as to search engines.

SMS. As the event gets closer, you can use SMS to send reminders to those who have expressed interest in the event. SMS has been shown to be extremely effective in not only reminding people that they need to do something, but also in reducing no shows. Ie made a reservation but did not turn up.

Issue

The biggest issue is that whilst simple in principal many Entertainment Agencies have multiple acts and events going on at anyone time.

Hence trying to remember to do all this especially with disparate systems and data sources is difficult.

Using a system such as AgencyEzy can solve this issue, providing a single agency, booking or promoter system that can manage all campaigns including your facebook and website integration (link your acts directly to the web from your desktop management system) as well as providing the inbuilt SMS and digital catalogue tools.
