Overview

The Manasquan Reservoir is a 1200 acre site that is over half water. There is a visitor’s center, an environmental center, a playground, 2 trails, boat ramp, and boat rentals. Swimming is not allowed, but you can ice skate in the winter.

The visitor’s center houses the restrooms, vending machines, and a second level observation deck. While a bait shop is open 9 months of the year, fishing licenses are not available there. The reservoir is stocked with a variety of fish and fishing is permitted year-round, with a license required for those 16 and older.

The boating area is also at the visitor’s center. The boat ramp (fee) is open March through November for boats with electric motors, sailboats, kayaks, and canoes (at least 8' in length). Every person in the boat must wear a U.S. Coast Guard approved personal flotation device. Don’t have your own boat??? You can rent a rowboat or kayak, if you are at least 16. With a NJ boating safety certificate, an electric motor powered rowboat is available at 4 hrs for $42 between April 1st and October 31st. The kayak rentals start May 1st. Boat tours originate at the visitor’s center.

The environmental center is open daily from 10am-5:00pm and until 8:30pm Friday, offering exhibits and a wildlife observation area.
