Manchester United defeats Gamba Osaka as the champions of Europe and Asia lock horns
56Manchester United defeated Gamba Osaka in a 5-3 classic to qualify for the Club World Cup final. Vidic and Ronaldo scored in the first half after capitalizing on Ryan Giggs corners to begin the goal fest that was to happen in the second half.
In the 74th minute, the Japanese powerhouse halved the deficit when Yamazaki scored a fine goal but the comeback was not to last as Wayne Rooney maintained Uniteds' 2 goal lead just a minute after the Japanese scored. Rooney had just came on as a sub and quickly got his name on the scoreboard.
Darren Fletcher another substitute for United made it 4-1 and to make sure there was no miracle come-backs from the hardworking Japanese team which was supported by a stadium full of Nippon supporters Rooney bagged his second of the night when he scored just seconds after the restart. But Gamba were not going to take United's onslaught lying down when they pulled a goal back when they converted a penalty after Gary Neville handled the ball in the box. Hashimoto got the 3rd and final goal deep into injury time to finish the game with a respectable scoreline.

The 68 thousand fans "90 percent of them being Gamba's suporters" who made the effort to watch the game life were rewarded with a 8 goal thriller 6 of them coming in the last 17 minutes leaving them breathless.
But United were the ones heading for the shower room with smiles on their faces as they come within a match closer to claiming the only one of the two pieces of silverware that they have not won in their distinguished history. The other being the Uefa Cup. Ecuador's Liga de Quito will be the obstacle United has to overcome if they were to be rightfully named as the best in world football.

All three editions of the FIFA Club World Cup have culminated in Brazilian sides being crowned champions: Corinthians in 2000, Sao Paulo in 2005 and SC Internacional de Porto Alegre in 2006.
