Looking for a delicious fruity dessert recipe that will impress your friends and family? Try serving fresh mango fruit salad, mango sorbet, or even make a delicious tropical mango dessert recipe from scratch.
Mangoes are a great choice because they are readily available year-round, they taste great, and are full of essential nutrients such as antioxidants and vitamins A and C. Additionally, the exotic flavor of mango appeals to just about everyone.
Fresh Mango Favorite: Tropical Fruit Salad Recipe
One of my favorite light desserts is a simple tropical fruit salad. I probably never make it the same way twice, because I simply shop for a variety of my favorite tropical fruits, cut them up, and mix them up in a bowl. I always start with mango, and then add in other fruits based on availability.
My tropical fruit salads usually feature:
- Mango
- Papaya
- Banana
- Pineapple
- Kiwi
To get ideas for other types of tropical fruits that you can use to create your own version of tropical fruit salad, see the Tradewinds Fruit Database.
Mango Sorbet Recipe
Mango sorbet is sweet and fruity treat that can be for dessert or a snack any time of day. It is tasty, refreshing, and simple to make. My favorite recipe doesn't even require an ice cream freezer.
4 mangoes
2 cups sugar
2 cups heavy cream
2 cups ice
Peel mangoes, cut into cubes, and remove seeds. Place half of each ingredient into your blender and puree until the texture is smooth. Pour into a large bowl that has a lid. Repeat with the other half. Add to the same large bowl if you are going to use the entire batch and once, or place in a separate bowl if you are going to save half for later. Seal the bowl and freeze for at least an hour. Scoop into bowls and serve. Makes 10 servings.
Ready Made Mango Sorbet
Of course, you don't have to make your own mango sorbet to enjoy it. If you'd rather let someone else take care of the preparation, check out the great mango sorbets by Haagen-Dazs and Sharon's Sorbet.
Homemade Mango Desserts
There are many different types of desserts that you can make using mangoes.
One of my favorite tips for creating a homemade mango dessert is simply to top my best homemade cheesecake with diced mango and whipped cream.

Wow. Amazing recipes. I'm passionate about mangoes. I make a really simple mango mousse, combining the pulp of around 6-8 alphonso or other sweet, fleshy mango. with a cup of single cream and a sachet of gelatine. Mix it well, add some lemon juice, swirl a tablespoon of cream through the top and leave to set. It's finger-licking good and people can never quite believe how quick and easy it is to make. Looks good too.
