November 14, 2009, Saturday at MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada: Philippines' Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao knocked down Puerto Rican Miguel Cotto twice and turned his face into a bloody mess before finally stopping him 55 seconds into the 12th round of their WBO (World Boxing Organization) welterweight division fight. Pacquiao used his speed and power from both hands to win his seventh title in seven weight classes. He is now the best or number 1 pound-for-pound fighter in the world.
Pacquiao whose full name is Emmanuel Dapidran Pacquia was born in December
17, 1978) and more commonly known as Manny Pacquiao. He is a Filipino professional boxer. He has held the titles of WBC lightweight world champion, WBC
super featherweight world champion, IBF super bantamweight world champion, featherweight,
super featherweight champion, WBC flyweight world champion, IBO, Ring Magazine
light welterweight champion. Now he is
the WBO welterweight champion after beating Miguel Cotto by TKO (technical
knockout which means referee-stopped). The
Filipino boxing superstar is the first boxer to win seven world titles in seven
different weight divisions. He also won the WBC diamond belt.
