December 6, 2008 in the US (7th of December in the Philippines), another historical battle was won by Manny "Pacman" Pacquiao against a great boxer - "Golden Boy" Oscar De La Hoya. What happened in the fight is shockingly unexpected as most of the viewers around the globe have doubts that Manny will win over the Golden Boy. Well, we can't really blame them, knowing how great De La Hoya is. Just like Manny, he was a pound-for-pound king, have won several title matches, have experience fighting in the Welterweight division, a gold medalist in the 1992 Olympics, and most of all, he is taller and have longer reach than Manny. Certainly, many will think that Manny is the underdog in the match. Manny, on the otherhand, have many things to be proud of. Although, he doesn't have the height and reach that De La Hoya has, Manny have the speed, love for boxing, and that high spirit that keeps him going. So, I guess, statistics is not all that it takes for Manny to write another history in boxing.

Who is Manny "Pacman" Pacquiao? Manny was born on December 17, 1978 in Bukidnon, but resides in General Santos City, which is also known as the Tuna Capital of the Philippines. His real name is Emmanuel Dapidran Pacquiao. Pacman is known in the Philippines as "Pambansang Kamao" (National Fist).
