Marathon Training Schedule

Long story short: a good marathon training schedule is the key for running a marathon. It is almost impossible to run such a distance without proper training. Especially if you are a beginner.

It's hard enough to believe that someone can actually run a marathon, but would you believe almost anyone can do it? It's true. Being fully committed and strictly following a good marathon training schedule that matches your level can almost guarantee you cross that finishing line.

And when I say "anyone can do it", I'm not talking about those world class runners who God knows how run a marathon in 2 hours! (Though I wonder what their marathon training schedule looks like). I'm talking about marathon training schedule for real people, who want to run their first (or any other) marathon in a normal human being pace, or just plain finishing it!

The Right Marathon Training Schedule for You

Choosing the right marathon training schedule for you should take in account several things:

First of all - your current running level. Are you a total beginner who still needs to build up a mileage basis, or a novice runner?

Another thing is how much time can you dedicate to your marathon training? 3, 4 or even 5 days a week?

Make sure you also have enough to time to rest.

How committed are you? How much strong will do you have to stick to your marathon training schedule and follow it through? Remember that the psychological aspect of training is import too!

The Best Marathon Training Schedule

The best marathon training schedule will be the one you feel comfortable with and actually enjoy doing. Too many people burn out from over doing their program. Others try a program that is beyond their capabilities. They are obviously feeling stressed out and very pressured. This is not a good way to train!

Choosing your marathon training schedule will be the second most important decision you make in your marathon experience. The first one is of course the decision to run the marathon. So choose well and good luck!
