Marge Simpson is a fictional character from the Simpsons family and part of the same name. She have the voice of actress Julie Kavner and first appeared on television in The Tracey Ullman Show short "Good Night" on 19 April 1987. Marge was created and designed by cartoonist Matt Groening while he was waiting in the lobby of the office of James L. Brooks. Groening had been called to launch a series of shorts based on life in hell, but decided to create a new set of characters. He named the character of his mother Margaret Groening. After appearing on the Tracey Ullman Show for three years, the Simpson family got their own series on Fox, which debuted on 17 December 1989.
