Mariah Carey and Def Leppard are two amazing artists, I must say. They almost share nothing in common. But one thing that I can think of is they sang the same song called “Bringing On The Heartbreak”. I like listening to both because both of the songs are very good but very different. Which one is better though?
Mariah Carey’s version of the song is the first version I heard. She hit’s the highest notes, I could ever imagine. I think her voice is more powerful in this song than Def Leppard. I don’t like all the humming in the song though… hmm.. Yeah yeah yeah… hum, hmm, ohh, oh,.. It just doesn’t sound great. I mean it fits in the song but it is unnecessary. Over all I think she did great and I have always thought she had an amazing voice. This song just proves how much of an awesome artist she is.
Def Leppard of course did this song first. They added a little rock to a love song, and great tone in Joe Elliot’s voice. Plus he didn’t do any of the humming stuff which was great. He sang the song and did an amazing job. Mariah Carey had a piano as the subtle background but music played a little bigger part in Daf Leppard’s “Bringing on the Heartbreak”. I got to say I like the music better in their version because it has more rhythm and balance. They have a guitar and drums instead of just a piano which make listening to more fun.
As for who did the song better? In my opinion, Def Leppard hands down. Not that Mariah Carey didn’t do it great but having a love song and adding a little rock… you can’t beat that. I think that if you are in a sad mood or upset with some one than Mariah’s version is better to listen to but if you are just looking forward to listening to a good song than pick the Def Leppard version. But like I said they are both amazing artists and better than one another in different ways.

Yep, I have to admit I was a bit confused when I saw the Hub title, as I thought - "WTF??".... ;-)
No contest, the original Def Leppard version is the best. This was from the album "High 'n' Dry" which was the record that Leppard started finding their place in the rock world (which would be cemented in '83 with the release of Pyromania, still one of the greatest rock albums ever made, and 2nd only to Michael Jackson's Thriller for album sales that year).

Smallbizpro- True true. this song and Pour Some Sugar on Me and some of the greatest songs ever. period. Michael Jackson used to be awesome. I loved Thriller! Still dance to it all the time!

Most people wouldn’t think Mariah Carey and Def Leppard, have much in common, but I’ve thought a few other similarities.
1. Both Mariah and Joe Elliot like to wear sparkling tops with lots of cleavage showing.
2. Both Mariah and Joe Elliot have bouncy curls.
3. I liked Def Leppard when I was thirteen and Mariah likes to think she’s still thirteen.
4. Def Leppard was originally named "Atomic Mass" and Mariah Carey reportedly has Massive Gas. (JJ)

Haha. My title is not missleading though? Right? I did another hub called Kelly Clarkson VS. Leona Lewis on their song A Moment Like This, and nobody mentioned the title! LOL.
You can'tvote for both! that is why it is versus! JP. They are both great. But Def Leppard is better on this song by far.

Maybe you could add something like "singing Bringing on the Heartbreak" at end of title! this would describe the hub more..

I love mariah, shes my girl, but this isn't one of my favorites of hers. her best songs are ones feat. rappers that have a good beat to them.

No, this song came out in 2002. I actually really like this song. But it is not as good as Def Leppard's version.
My opinion is I enjoyed Def Leppard version. I like to hear the sound of rock when I am down and need inspiration. The Mariah sound makes me too sad ....Good comparison ...thank you for sharing ...my best to you!
Thank you GJcody. I am the opposite of you. I don't listen to rock when I am down and need inspiration, I listen to songs like the Mariah Carey version. It makes me feel so much better to listen to sad things. I don't know why.

I had to read this hub when I saw the title. It was a 'huh?' moment to see a comparison between Mariah Carey and Def Leppard. I watched Def Leppard vid and it's great! Skipped the Mariah Carey one because I can appreciate her voice on an intellectual level, but not an emotional one.
