Uses of marigold (calendula)

Marigold is said to be a good companion plant as it helps to repel insects from other flowers, vegetables and herbs.It is a hairy plant and it grow well in a drained soil, and enjoys a sunny position.
Medicinal Uses of the Common Marigold
Marigold is used to treat eczema, scars, cracked skin, rashes, inflammations and viral infections.The petals are used to make an eyewash,It is also used in both homeopathic and conventional medicine as an ointment to heal cuts and grazes. Marigold hold anti-septic,stimulant and anti-fungal properties in itself. Marigold patels can be used to make a tea or infusion to help in the healing of mouth ulcers, colitis and stomach ulcers also, the infusion helps by stimulating the lymphatic system, reduce swelling and cleans the body off toxins.The flowers of Marigold may be used as a Saffron substitute in the coloring of rice dishes, the leaves of Marigold are used in salads.

Researchers show promising results of marigold in eradicating stubborn warts.It has been in use for several foot problems, including bunions,plantar faciitis, fungal infections, tendonitis,and plantar warts.
Alternative treatment for the small skin lesions called verrucae can be treated with these flowers . It's seen that the treatments either greatly reduces the number and size of warts or in some cases it even cleared them completely in four to six applications,where it was noticed other treatments failed to do so..

Marigold (Calendula) is a highly effective herb for the treating inflammation of the skin, whether it is  due to infection or physical damage; for eg:-, crural ulceration, varicose veins, haemorrhoids, anal fissures, mastitis, sebaceous cysts, impetigo or any other inflamed cutaneous lesions in our body

Calendula cream  is an excellent cosmetic remedy for repairing minor damages to the skin surface such as sub dermal broken capillaries or sunburn which are very painful.  The sap  of the plant  is reputed to remove warts, corns and calluses

Pigments in Marigolds are sometimes extracted and used as a food colouring  in sweets.The paste made from the leaves of the marigold plant is applied on any kind of skin damage or problems ,even pimples and acnes are treated with the paste made from marigold leaves
