Mario Kart Wii Tips for Online Multiplayer
Since the Wii version of Mario Kart has online multiplayer there are few tricks that you can use gain an advantage while playing your buddies or an open player room. Below you will find a small list of the Mari Kart tricks you can use. Make sure you practice these as some of them take precise movements to get them to execute properly.
Tip 1. Getting a quick power boost at the start of the race. Pressing
accelerator as the 2 is disappearing during the 321 countdown will give you a
powerup boost at launch. Just like drag racing time the light tree just perfect and you
will get a power boost from the game as well. If you miss the power boost
because of timing you can recover by doing tip number 4. Don’t hit the
accelerator too soon or you will stall the launch and have to recover as if you
were hit by a shell.
Tip 2. Taking shortcuts using the speed mushrooms and star. When you have the power-up star or mushroom use the speed boosts to pick the straightest and cut corners to get a win. You will see this one used in the pro’s video’s on youtube. This tip works on the Gamecube Mario Kart, Mario Kart 64, Mario Cart DS, and is one of the best tools/tricks to have come the last 2 corners of a race.
Tip 3. If you fall from the course hit the 2 right when the cloud drops you back on the course for instant speed restore. Get good at this trick so that you can recover after an untimely fall from the track.. Seconds count and this one can save you a few on most of the mario kart tracks except rainbow road and the gold mine.
Tip 4. Wheelie’s on the Mario Kart motorcycles. In a straightaway pull back on the Wii controller hard to get a wheelie going and you will get a speed power-up. Jerk it forward to lower the wheel before you get to a corner as you can not make turns riding on one wheel. If you jerk the controller back down it will put the wheel back on the ground. This is only good on the Mario Kart for the Wii 100cc motorcycles.
Tip 5. Pull back on Wii controller at jumps to do tricks when you land after a trick you get a speed boost. Same pull back method as the wheelie but at the edge of a jump. This is really good on the maps with lots of jumps. Or the ribbon parts of the Mario Kart tracks like maple highway and rainbow road.
With a little practice these tips can aid you in dominating online multiplayer Mario Kart. I always find that being relaxed while playing is the key to having fun but still dominating your opponents by timing power-ups perfectly. Getting frustrated only leads to failed execution of tricks and in the end will give you worse scores.
