Argh...!

Hey, I know that title is a bit 'rough' and you may be thinking it is a tactic or ploy to get views. NOPE. I truly feel that way today! I am SO sick of all of the 'experts' charging for their secrets while the rest of us flounder around the internet like a fish out of water.

No, I am not a negative person, I really am not. I am just tired of busting my you-know-what, to find out that the 'nice person' is STILL going to finish LAST! *argh!* Why is it that being 'nice' royally ruins a person? Why is it that people will take advantage of the 'nice people', get what they want, and then leave the other person out to dry?

I recently came to the awareness that people I thought were my 'friends' were actually just using me to pivot off of, to their own success. And, the sad thing is, it is STILL being done to dozens of others. I can't tell anyone anything, because they won't listen to me. Who am I? To them, I am just a stay-at-home mom with too much time on her hands and more kids than they'll ever know what to do with. And, to a degree, I get where they are coming from. I don't rank #1 on Google. I haven't spent thousands to be trained in business. I don't have any degrees or fancy certificates.

What I do have is the heart of a servant. I care more about these people and their well-being, then they will EVER know. I don't have to know them personally. They are people just like me, wanting to improve their lives. They are people with families. They are people that have tried an endless stream of 'opportunities' JUST so they could have a slim chance at their dream life. Who am I to take that away from them?

But, at night, when I lie down to sleep, I pray for them. Because, I know something they don't. I know that all of THEIR hard work is building up someone else. I did a video once about branding YOU. Making a name for who you are, what you believe in and what you have to offer the world. I don't think but a small handful truly 'grasped' the message. And, that small group was comprised of people that already knew what I was saying and had learned that long ago. They already had established themselves. The other 90%+ of the viewers continue, to this day, to market someone else.

I wish I could share with them what I have learned. I wish that people could just be kind to one another. I wish that, instead of promoting a product/service/team/company/Guru... people would just grasp that no one follows a "no name". People buy the name brand product because it has been brainwashed in to their brain that it works! Most people don't follow the 'underdog', but rather, they seek out the "Guru" and follow them. That's great for the "Guru", but where is the person that did ALL of the hard work to market the "Guru"? They are left out and either give up, or move on to something else, only to repeat the vicious cycle.

It has been a rough road for me this year. I have worked really hard to make a name for myself and every time I am feeling like I am getting somewhere, I find that a door has been slammed shut in my face. But, as the saying goes: "When one door is closed, another one is opened." I believe and have faith that my God will take care of me, and that if I stay strong, and seek out the open door, I will never fail. The only way I could fail is if I give up. I hope that others out there in the business marketplace seek out the open doors that are in front of them. That they never give up and therefore, never accept failure or defeat.

Blessings!

Very nice and interesting hub about your view of the topic of Internet marketing. My personal view is a bit different. I've got all my basic knowledge about Internet marketing, SEO, social bookmarking, social networking by following very successful professionals from these fields. I've spent $0 for learning, until now (not counting web domains and free web hosting due to my brother's resources). I am very grateful to these guys, who taught me the basics. I admit, I have been spending hundreds of hours online, but that's the price I am more than willing to pay. I simply don't believe in fast solutions, but long term hard work. My web presence is constantly growing as well as my web income. I am truly grateful to Ed Dale, Dan Raine, Rob Somerville and their buddies. They taught me that I could do so much better in a team work. I am never alone on the vast land of the Internet and my online friends are always there, if I need them.My personal experience is: follow and learn from the best in any field you want to master. Thank you for this hub!

Thank you for commenting! I appreciate your perspective. I do believe that putting in your hard work and efforts is key to succeeding. I guess what upsets me is when people take advantage of others hard work, and are unethical about it. I know that not everyone is like that.

Thanks again!

You are so right and Internet is just optimal for conning people on a really large scale. That's just another reason to learn as much as possible to prevent such problems. It is also much safer and much easier, if you are a part of a larger community, which has its own resources to prevent negative events or to support you, when something went very wrong.

p.s.

Throughout all history people were taking advantage of other people. That's nothing new. Such bad manners are not going to change, soon. Internet allows you to thoroughly check every person you are dealing with and also, that you trust only to people with clean long term record.

I will agree that it can be tough to get information when you are starting out. However, there are some sites that provide a lot of information on search engine optimization and web marketing. If you are interseted, you should check out these sites.

Good place to start for links to several good posts: http://www.searchenginepeople.com/blog/one-week-of

I had to do much research to find legitimate paying programs. The only one to date is AdlandPro http://www.qassia.com/get-paid-to-be-an-adlandpro- I have been paid via PayPal and have earned advertising to promote my website Jaz Live Cash Culture.

If something is given away free, it is generally not valued by our society.

I've had cases where I've given free advice to people with website problems, and it's been ignored. Instead, they've gone and paid more money to listen to someone give them even more bad advice - and acted on it.

When the same advice is contained in a printed report accompanied by an invoice for a couple of hundred dollars, it instantly becomes worthwile, and is acted on.

(And this is the type of info I put into my hubs)

Funny world we live in, isn't it.

In fact the most important skill on the internet has nothing to do with technical ability or technical knowledge. Hmm. I think I feel another hub comin on :-)

(BTW I agree with all the sentiments you express in your hub)

I have had an online presence with my real estate web site for about six years. For most of those years, I focused on Pay Per Click advertising and it was successful. When the real estate bubble burst, Pay per click became unprofitable. I decided to go after "free traffic" using SEO.

Well, free traffic is not free. It takes a lot of hard work and it's very frustrating when you climb in the rankings and then get bumped by the search engine. However, when I step back, I see that the long term trend is very good, with traffic and leads improving.

It appears that in SEO persistence is the key. Working on my site regularly is getting me traffic and some of it is even good. I am competing against a lot of people and not all of those people are honest or ethical.

My only course of action is to decide on the course and stay true to myself and my beliefs. I think we can sleep better at night believing that we are acting honorably.

Lynnn,

Thank you! I have to agree with you.

If we are aligned with what we believe in our hearts, we will always come out on "top" even if it's not on Google (LOL).

Thanks!!!

Blessings,

Nice hub. I can totally relate to putting time and energy into people and then having them not exhibit much honor in return. We can't get discouraged though...then the enemy would have the victory. I really love what you said about yourself as having the heart of a servant and caring for others more than they will ever know.....Thankfully, we have a great Advocate who sees how we conduct ourselves in the business world and knows our hearts. Remember, He knows the plans he has for you and me, not plans for calamity but plans to prosper us, to give us a hope and a future.

Blessings to you dear Joy (what a great name you have!)

Hi Joy, yes I can empathize. I have been doing this network marketing thing for over 10 years. It can be challenging to say the least. I see so many that don't want to interact with others. They think they can make the big bucks without doing the work or speaking to people. It's really rewarding to find a great mentor and also to find those that you can help along and they appreciate it.
