Marketing Lessons Learned Watching Superbowl 43!
50What possible marketing lessons can internet marketers learn from interceptions during the Superbowl?
While watching Superbowl 43 an amazing thing occurred to me. We internet network marketers can learn a lot from pro football. I know you think I’m crazy but it’s true.
You see, there was this one moment in the this years game…
Just before half time. Arizona had the ball and was seconds, inches in fact, away from scoring a touch down. This would have put them into the lead just before the all important half time break…
The quarterback took his time and threw the ball… Then out of the blue Pittsburg intercepted!
And not only did the Steelers player catch the ball he started running with it. Running, and running and running. Before our disbelieving eyes he’d run the ball all the way down the field (and I do mean ALL the way, it was a 100 yard run) and scored a touchdown! This was an amazing play by any standard.
In fact, many would say it was a “lucky” play. But was it? I say not.
Professional Football players of a quality to make it into the Superbowl practice and train constantly.
They hone their skills for years building a foundation of knowledge and reflex so they are ever ready to take advantage of opportunities that come their way.
Successful internet marketers do the same thing. They build a foundation of work (content) so that they are positioned to take advantage of opportunities, in the blink of an eye, when ever they come along.
In the internet network marketing industry you hear a lot of “overnight success” stories. What you don’t’ hear about is the 2 or 3 years of work invested to build the foundation for the “overnight” success of the business in question.
So, what internet marketing lessons can we learn from the amazing interception return of Superbowl 43?
That Magical amazingly successful moments WILL come our way… If we take the time to build our business properly, by doing our homework, learning the skills we need and creating a body of work online first. Basically we have to prep ourselves like a Superbowl Pro does. And if we do, nothing will hold us back!

I do say it is a perfect analogy....is your brain ever turned off? I do feel like I am training for something really big and will run with it when my opportunity is there. We all have the ability for greatness. It's all about getting ready and seizing the moment, without just standing in the crowd.
Thanks, Becky Joubert
Hi Shelly, What a great analogy. Being from Pittsburgh we were all geared up last night but we are used to great plays like that because the Steelers have a storied tradition of greatness - and we could all learn a lot from champions - whether they are sports champions or business champions. You made a great comparison and I really enjoyed this hub.
Hi Shelly,
Great analogy!I agree with Pat and that sometimes the 'building content' can seem daunting for some, but just knowing that 'that one moment' will be there when we're ready to take it and 'run with it'.
You're always such a great motivator.Keep it up.
It's all about thinking outside the box! Which this hubpage is a perfect example of!
I appreciate your creativity!

It does take time to build a foundation of content in place to funnel endless traffic to your business, but 2 to 3 years is really on the slow side when it comes to online marketing. The process is sped up only as fast as one can put out videos, write articles or blog posts.
Atleast, that's been my experience anyway
Hi Shelly,
This is great. Few months ago I didn't even want to think about writing an article or building a blog. Watching you, mike and other leaders really help me to think that it is not that difficult.
Thanks for your inspiration.

Another gem, Shelly, timely...appropriate...and encouraging! Sometimes the "content building" thing feels like the hamster wheel - until we find ourselves in the position of *being able to* catch the ball when it comes our way because we were prepared. And oh-my-gosh WHAT a play that was - and I don't even like football!!!!
