Marketing Perspective

It's All in How You Look at It

A mother relayed this experience, "I was driving with my three young children one warm summer evening when a woman in the convertible ahead of us stood up and waved. I was so surprised to see she was stark naked. As I was reeling from the shock, I heard my 5-year-old shout from the back seat, 'Mom! That lady isn't wearing a seat belt'!"

Marketing moral: See? It's all in the perspective. How do you look at your marketing problems?

When I read this, I just laughed because like so many I can relate..big time. Then I thought about the serious aspect to this, so many marketers have not done well in selling their product, program, software etc.and it reminded me of a book that I read not too long ago. This book has very good and valuable insights as to why we as marketers have so many problems.

I know that deep down, I have good old fashioned common sence, but for the longest time, my common sence went right out of the window..I believed ( because I was told) that marketing is in the numbers, that I had to spread my message to everyone, regardless of whom. Guess what...WRONG!! WE spend so much time fretting about that next sign up..the next upgrading, we forgot one simple little fact. Not everyone is going to sign up and not everyone is going to be interested in what we do..and that is o.k. Why? because there are many out there who are! By changing one little focus, we free ourselves from the negative impact of the "PMS" philosophy ( Poor Me Syndrome..LOL) to a more positive one. I know for me, I am more relaxed in what I do and I can focus on the important things in life. No doubt we still need to promote, but maybe by promoting ourselves, giving good information to those who ARE interested and then our products, we will get further ahead...now how is that for a perspective!!

I am giving you the URl for this book..I have nothing to gain by doing this, except to maybe get you to see your business in a different light..a different perspective..and that to me is a good thing!
