Your business cards should not be stuck in business card holders. They should be out there circulating in the industry. Your business card is actually an extension of your workplace and tells people you give it to what kind of company you are working for and a glimpse of who you are as a businessman.
This being said there are a lot of things that you should consider when it comes to your business cards. Take one out from your business card holder and look at it with new and critical eyes. What is the first thing you noticed? What is the most prominent feature?
If you belong to a highly reputed company or a well known brand then the prominent feature of your business card should be your logo. But if you are just starting out and still trying to build a niche for yourself then the most prominent feature in your business card should be your name.
The size of your business card must also be taken into consideration as well. Although you want yours to be different from the rest, it is best to stick to the traditional size of 3.5" by 2". Going beyond that would mean that they will not fit in most business card holders and wallets.
The quality of your paper should also matter. Do not use regular paper like bond papers cut into business card sizes. They will only look cheap. No one would want to buy something or get the services from a person with that kind of business card.
Make sure that you use color well. Although the accepted professional looking ones are black, white and grey there are colored business cards now as well. Just make sure that you do not use too much color since they can be distracting and would probably turn off some clients.
The way you keep your business cards can also affect the impressions of prospects towards you. Keeping them in a neat business card holder shows your professionalism as well as maintains the neatness and cleanliness of your business cards. That way, your business cards will be worth keeping.
