Amish Country Ohio

 

Amish Boys and girls begin their search for a spouse when they reach the age of marriage at sixteen sixteen. The young man asks his girl to marry him, but instead of a diamond ring he gives her a well made clock or suitable china. Amish women wear chromatic blue shades at their weddings. Navy blue, sky blue and shades of lavender are the most popular colors donning young Amish brides. Her ceremony outfit becomes her Sunday church attire after she is married.

 

Many Amish women are also buried in their matrimony ceremony dresses. Flowers are not used by anyone in the ceremony party. The groom wears a black suit, white shirt, a bow tie, high-topped black shoes, and a black hat with a three and a half inch brim. No other participants stand up for the pair at the wedding.

 

Wedding dates for the Amish are limited to November and part of December, when the garner has been completed and wet cold winter weather has not yet arrived. Most weddings are held on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays are utilized as days to prepare for or to clean-up after. Saturdays are not utilized as ceremony days to avoid impact or clean-up on the Sabbath.

 

The honeymoon is spent at the bride's in laws because they will return to mundane routines and go back to the chores of daily life. The pair lives at the of the bride's parents until they establish their own homestead.

The Amish and Mennonite and a culture that has survived here without the technologies; these technologies have made modern life so hectic for the average person. This truly makes Ohio Amish and Mennonite country one of the more desirable destinations in the US. Hospitality, dining, and shopping abound, as well as the numerous sightseeing opportunities in the bonny Amish countryside.
