Candle parties, purse parties, jewelry parties…you name it, I’ve been invited to them.  While the snacks, samples, and free facials are nice, there is always the pressure to buy something at the end.  When I received a recent invite to a Mary Kay party, my initial thought was, “no thanks.”  When I realized my future sister-in-law was throwing the party , I figured I would suck it up for a couple hours and maybe get away with only buying a tube of Lip Gloss. 

As the night started out, we listened to the Mary Kay representative talk about the history of Mary Kay, her experience with the brand, the pink cars, and a quiz.  While I’m not signing up to be the newest Mary Kay representative, it was a painless process. 

We kicked off the make-up portion by using a product called TimeWise 3-in-1 Cleanser and TimeWise Moisturizer.  It’s an age fighting product, and at 29 I need it.  The cleanser contained light exfoliating beads and the moisturizer was light and airy.  The representative asked us to feel how smooth the portion of our face was compared to the portion we had not used the cleanser and moisturizer on.  The difference was amazing. 

As we continued applying foundation, powder, and mascara, I was continually impressed with the way my skin felt, as well as how well the make-up looked over my skin.  Being a fan of moisturizer and trying many brands in the market, I couldn’t recall any that my face reacted to like this. 

An internal struggle began as I wondered how my skin would react to using this product daily.  Was this product really that good, or was it purely an illusion as sometimes these products are.    

As the night came to an end, I couldn’t help reaching for my checkbook when it came time to purchase.  The cleanser and moisturizer were $22 each.  I was excited to get home and begin my nightly regime of cleansing and washing with my new purchase.  My Oil of Olay products took a spot behind my mirror while Mary Kay took her place on my sink.

After using the product for 5 weeks, I am highly pleased with my purchase.  To date, my pores appear smaller and my smile lines are less pronounced.  I use a tiny squirt of the cleanser at night followed by the moisturizer.  In the morning, I’ll rinse my face with warm water and re-apply the moisturizer.  My skin has never been happier or softer! 

The next time I get an invitation to a Pampered Chef or candle party, maybe I won’t be so quick to say no.
