Ideas for massage therapy business names are plentiful. Your job is to come up with a unique one, one that describes your practice in a nutshell. This is one of the first things you will need to do. After all, you cannot print up business cards, open a business checking account, or put in a business phone without a massage business name.

What kind of a name will you choose? Try to pick something original but somehow related to massage therapy. My massage instructor used to say that so many massage therapists use the word "hands" in their business name and that it is way too overused so you may want to keep that in mind.

A good idea is to use the name of your town or a particular section of your town as part of the name.

For instance, I live in San Antonio, a city of more than a million people. So it would be silly for me to use "San Antonio" in my name. This would not help anyone in San Antonio to know where I am located. But if I used "Northwest Massage" or "Bandera Road Massage", clients would have a better idea of where they could find me.

Here is a second example. If I lived in Leakey, Texas, a town of about 400 people, I could just call my business "Leakey Massage" and everyone there would know where I was located.

Some people still associate massage therapists with the masseuses overseas who provided them with happy endings when they were stationed in the military. Quite a few men have told me about their experiences with them while they were stationed in Japan, Korea, and the Philippines, to name a few. Some of these men actually ask if we give happy endings...NO, definitely not!

So don't choose a massage therapy business name that makes men think this is a possibility. Examples of names that you probably should not choose would be "Feather Touch" or "Light Touch" or "Touch Of Ecstasy".

Try to keep your massage therapy business name as professional sounding as possible. You could use words like "therapeutic", "medical", or "healing" in your name.

Get a thesaurus and look up other words you can use to convey a professional massage business. Pull out a phone book and look in the yellow pages under "massage therapy" and check out the names of your competitors. You may get some good ideas from them. Remember not to copy their names exactly. You just want inspiration. You do not want to use a name that is taken in your city because you will not be able to get a license to do business if you do not have a unique name.

Once you pick from a ton of great massage therapy business names, you must go downtown and register your name with your city or town. They will check to make sure that no one else in your city uses this name and will then give you a business license showing that you are doing business (or DBA) as "Whatever Massage Name You Choose". You will pay a fee and then you are legal and no one else in your city can use your massage business name.
