Stressed Out

Are you stressed out? Consider having massage therapy for stress in your life. It really helps.

As Americans, we have too much stress in our lives today. People of all ages are suffering from the effects. Check out this website on antioxidants. Learn how you can reduce stress by increasing antioxidants in your daily diet and preventing diseases such as high blood pressure, heart disease, and cancer.

Some common causes of this tension are:

Traffic

The Workplace

Finances

Health Problems

Home/Family Life

The Wrong Clothes

The Wrong Car

The Wrong Neighborhood

The Wrong Toys (Yes, children are affected, too)

Relieving Stress

Webster defines stress as mental or physical tension. He was right. Everyone seems so tense, young and old, from children to the elderly in the United States of America.  It is rush, rush, rush, worry, worry, worry, and all of that rushing around and worrying takes its toll. Believe me, I know from personal experience!

Here are plenty of stress management tips to show you how to deal with stress.

This tension can worsen your problems by making them seem bigger than they really are. We tend to lose perspective when we are so involved in them day after day. Our bodies, in turn, take a painful toll. They need relief.

Massage therapy for stress reduces pressure and anxiety. It does this by activating the parasympathetic nervous system. This is a fancy way of saying that the body decides to conserve its energy and resources.

The parasympathetic nervous system creates a calming condition in our bodies. It allows the client to clear his/her head and look carefully at whatever his/her problem is. The client can weigh different solutions and think about how the solutions will help their problems.

Tense muscles relax. Blood pressure drops. Anxiety and depression decrease. That's right, so go get some massage therapy for stress today!

Relax with aromatherapy. Great smells do a lot to calm you down and eradicate stress from your life. They also energize you so you can go out and take a walk, leaving your cares and worries behind.

Let your stress melt away with a hot stone massage. What sounds better on a cold winter day than a hot stone massage? Each hot stone placed on your body erases yet another worry and by the end of the session, you feel fabulous! What better way to melt all of your troubles (at least temporarily) than hot stone massage therapy for stress?

Chill out with cold stone massage. This is a great skin toner for your face. Beauty in stones!

Are you emotionally distressed? Aren't we all from time to time? So much happens in our lives that can cause emotional distress. Sometimes after a lot of emotional or physical distress or just one severe trauma, we find that we have post-traumatic stress disorder.

Are you a control freak? Learn to let go. No matter how much you try, you cannot control others. Honestly, they have free will and you cannot control them so quit trying for your own sanity!

Rid your life of stress! Don't you just want to let go of it all? Sometimes a new perspective is all it takes.

De-stress now! Get a new point of view, a whole new outlook on life, and some massage therapy for stress, and you will be amazed at how a lot of the stress just disappears.

Massage therapy for stress can really calm and center you, but you also need to get your mind off of yourself and your problems. Choose one of the hobbies listed above or help an elderly neighbor out with cleaning, shopping, and yard work. Volunteer your time at a homeless shelter or an animal shelter. Get a pet.

 Read a good book!

Take a vacation!

Play an instrument. If you don't know how, take lessons.

Plant a vegetable or a flower garden.

Sometimes, it can really help if you have a friend to talk to about it. But remember that everyone has their own problems and sometimes, your "friend" will get sick and tired of hearing about your problems and start shutting you out. Eventually, you end up with no friend to talk to about anything at all. I know this from personal experience.

Proper Hydration Can Help To Combat Stress

Hydration with water is important to your health. Two thirds of our bodies are water. When we feel thirsty, it is already too late. If you realize that you are thirsty, you are already 10% dehydrated!

It is important to drink water throughout the day, even when you do not feel thirsty. Your body needs plenty of water, one half of your body weight in ounces, in order to function properly.

Water is important for making new blood, for your joints to work, and for your organs to work correctly.

Let's talk about drinking one half of your body weight in ounces. Let's say you weigh 100 pounds. An example: Half of 100 is 50. If you weigh 100 pounds, your body needs 50 ounces of water per day in order for it to function properly.

As a busy massage therapist, drinking water is essential for you to keep up the pace you need to have. Be sure to drink at least eight ounces of water when you get up, before breakfast.

I keep a bottle of water on my nightstand as I wake up, from time to time, very thirsty. That way I don't have to get up and go down to the kitchen in the middle of the night for a glass of water. I also take a bottle of water with me in the car as I travel throughout the day. I keep a bottle of water on my desk as I am doing computer work.

Did you know that water is essential to keep your blood pressure at a normal level?

Hydration with water is important to your immune system as well. Water helps flush out toxins after a massage so it is important for you to encourage your clients to drink a bottle of water after a massage. Some massage therapists give their clients a bottle of water upon completion of a table massage as an added benefit. A bottle of water after a massage helps prevent the client from getting a headache caused by the toxins moved by the massage.

Control Freak

Are you a control freak? If so, you have a lot of stress in your life. This is not a good thing. You must learn that you cannot control everything. Accept this fact, let go, and you will be a much happier person.

Stress comes everyday in all sorts of life situations. For the control freak, stress is doubled because because he/she believes that controlling everything will make all things turn out fine. Not true!

First of all, no one but God can control everything. It is best to let go and ask God to control the things in your life the way He wants.

Second, you cannot control the thoughts, motives, and actions of others. Accept it--it is true. If you are a control freak, you believe that by knowing everything that is going on, you can control it. This is not true. Accept this fact and let go. The stress will literally melt off of you when you realize and accept that you cannot control the lives of your spouse, your teens, and your other family members and loved ones.

I have three teenagers. For years I believed that if I knew everything going on in my children's lives, I could fix whatever was wrong and make my teens turn out perfect. This control freak was surprised to find out that I don't know a great deal of what is going on in their lives because they don't want me to know.

Also, they have informed me that they do not want my help with anything unless they ask for it. Another surprise! Kids change so much when they become teenagers!

It has been freeing to understand this and to release a lot of issues. Slowly, my stress level has dropped.

Here is another issue of control--trying to monitor and control your spouse.

Over the past five years, I have learned and continue to learn that I cannot control my husband. He has been in Iraq, Kuwait, and Afghanistan for most of the past four years.

If he chooses to stay in a war zone in Iraq or Afghanistan, there is nothing I can do.

I was having a difficult time earlier this year with it. I have now accepted that I cannot control him or his actions. I have finally let go. There is nothing I can do. Most of the stress and anxiety I have had since February are finally gone.

I hate the entire situation but since there is nothing I can do about it at this point, I have relinquished control. Relinquished control? I actually had no control. I only thought I did.

So, if you want to recover from being a control freak, realize and understand that you cannot control others. Accept this fact and release it.

Get a hobby such as painting, drawing, cross-stitch, gardening, or building a website.

Get regular chair or table massages to feel better physically and emotionally.

All of the above actions will help to relase you from the heavy weight of unhealthy stress and worry.
