Restful Mountainside Resort

Once again it is that time of year to spend a week in the beautiful mountainside resort of Massunetten Mountainside Villas. We bought a week back in December of 2003. Our first week was in April of 2004. It is indeed a beautiful area. It is a deeded timeshare that can be passed down through generations.

We ignore the phone while there. We discovered that they call to welcome you with the guise to invite you to something FREE just to try to convince you to upgrade to a more expensive unit that we don't need or want.

Our timeshare is considered the White week. In April usually when the schools are having Spring break. Our week falls a few days different each year because of leap year (at least that is what they told us). They will send a new schedule each year so it is easy to keep track.

Hubby has to put in for that week for vacation each year as I will tell him (we paid for it) so I am going with him or without. We have an end unit that the entrance is ground level. At our age that is important to us.

There are many activities to get involved with. When you check in they give you lots of information for the coming week. Tours that take you to DC, Plays, tourist sites and many more. Several pools, two indoor activity centers. One on the mountain and one at the entrance. A new water-park at the bottom of the mountain open to the public, indoor features and outdoor features.

He has the opportunity to play on two different golf courses. These courses at times are shared by deer. They aren't scared of people, but do keep their distance. As you try to get closer to them they gingerly back away.

One year, I noticed a neighboring unit feeding them. I took many photos of this amazing site. These people left within a couple of days. I told hubby that I bet before the end of our stay I could get them eating out of my hand. Sure enough with patience before the end of that day it occurred. Sadly, my camera batteries died at that point so the photo you see is the closest.

The Blue Ridge Mountain area. With so many sites to see. We have seen some of the caves with the beautiful rock formations over many hundreds of years.
