Mastering the Art of Letter Writing
You have a letter to write. You know you must do it, but the thought fills you with dread.
You would rather do anything else than actually sit down and write.
Only thing is, the thought of that undone letter will keep haunting you no matter how engrossed you try to become in another subject.
Best thing to do? Sit down and get the job done quickly!
How? 3 easy steps: Outline your basic ideas first. Then Write. Fast. Edit last.
OUTLINE: Jot down roughly in order all the main topics you wish to convey.
WRITE:
Imagine the person who you are writing to as sitting opposite you, see the expectant look on her face as she can't wait to hear what you have to say. Now talk to her, (aloud or in your in your head!) and write what you are saying down on a piece of paper as fast as you can.
Start with what is the easiest thing you want to express, working yourself up to anything that is more difficult and don’t stop to correct a word or a mistake. As soon as you get stuck for another thing to say, leave it, get up and do something else for a few minutes.
Start writing again the second an idea comes into your head. Continue until you have exhausted all the subjects you wanted to say in your outline and whatever else those prompts led to.
EDIT:
Correct spelling mistakes, use short to medium sentences and paragraphs and rearrange them if necessary so that they read easily.
P.S. Always repeat any important information in a P.S.
P.P.S. They always get read, like you read these two!
