Is there something different about wealthy men like Bill Gates and Sir Richard Branson?

We often like to believe such people were brought up differently but interestingly, one man believes not.

Mr. Matt Morris insists there is nothing unique about such people.

Morris see success as the progressive realization of one's worthwhile dream.

The 31-year-old chief executive and founder of Success University, an online self-development company offering courses on motivation, internet marketing, real estate and finance, believes success is the product of an individual's effort.

Matt Morris "The richest people in the world do not work harder than most people. They are not born with greater ability than others. I do not have more ability than anyone else. We all have it. The key to success is to increase your ability through education. Formal education makes you a living, self-education makes you a fortune," he says.

Going by his easy energy, the smile on his face and the calm demeanor behind the navy blue suit and yellow tie, you would never tell the size of empire he commands.

Right choices

Mr Matt Morris. He says success depends on one's ability to make right choices.

The influence he has on people's lives, the sheer magnitude of his dream, or how far he has come is immense.

At his tender age, he has achieved more than most people dream of.

He says his biggest vision is to open up people's lives to hope and belief that the future can be brightened if only individuals can get access to the right education that would help them make right choices.

The young man is intent on leaving a legacy by empowering people with success education.

He has visited more than 43 countries and is in Kenya, to conduct seminars along with his team of professional speakers, on issues one would not ordinarily learn in the traditional educational system.

He gives tips on what would help people achieve their dreams and become successful.

Things he came to learn the hard way through failing, trying, and reading tonnes of books.

Starting from a broke, failed past, he rose to become a millionaire by the age of 29, and became chief executive officer of one of the fastest growing personal development programs.

The program has enrolled over 80,000 students in 180 countries.

Hitting rock bottom

Morris became an entrepreneur at 18 but at 21, he had failed in three businesses and had $30,000 (Sh2.1million) in debt.

Living out of his car, he took a job selling swimming pools in the US. Twice a week, he took the cheapest motel room to allow him to get a decent bath.

The rest of the time, he made do with gas stations bathrooms after a night on his car's back seat.

On one of his sales journeys, he came to an area where there was no petrol station or lodging to pull into and spend the night. There was only a church.

Tired, Morris pulled into the church's parking lot and stood underneath the runoff from roof and had his shower with rainwater

"I had hit my version of rock bottom," he says.

From that day, he made commitment to pursue personal development. He began reading and listening to self-development materials, communication skills, charisma, and salesmanship - daily - for eight hours.

"I made a decision to re-invent my life just like the body re-invents itself."

He begun modeling lives of people with the level of success he desired.

Success was in close tow. At 24, Morris was widely traveled and was earning a six-figure income, a far cry from the broke, homeless man who had showered in the rain on a churchyard. It was time to re-invent himself.

He decided he would become a millionaire and make massive contribution to the world. "I had experienced all the financial success I wanted. Through network marketing, I had created this amazing life for others and myself. Now I wanted to create a bigger vision, the ultimate vision for my life." Matt Morris

He became the top money earner in two-network marketing companies, as well as a millionaire between the ages of 24 and 29.

Over the years, Morris was involved in network marketing and this time, realizing the potential in developing people mentally so that they develop his business while learning, he focused on training people to develop their minds.

The personal development industry had changed his life, and he saw no better place to give it back than in network marketing.

Opportunity

"It was an opportunity to empower my own life and that of others," he says.

And he set out on the journey to create the first worldwide university, dedicated to empowering individuals through success principles.

Today, his university has over 100 top speakers and authors covering more than 200 courses in all possible fields from health and nutrition to management, leadership, sales, relationships and motivation, all applicable to the business world and life.

"Success University is about a revolution in human potential. We show people that they have the ability to make a lasting impact. I would feel guilty if I do not make a difference. The vision I have might not happen in my lifetime, but if I cannot be part of the solution, I am part of the problem," he says.

Learning center

Through the Internet, students gain access to their own learning Centrex and web site from where they can access all courses offered by the university.

The institution delivers products such as CDs to allow those without Internet access to benefit from the products.

However through network marketing, students earn money by enrolling other students into the university and grow from the rank of Student, to Counselor, Director, Executive Director, Vice-President or Ambassador as they expand the business.

Success University is famous for this easy money making opportunity but Morris says he is more keen on people enrolling for the leaning experience rather than for money they make through network marketing.

According to Morris, Success University has more students in Africa than in other continents, with South Africa being one of the leading markets. Kenya has 1,000 students.
