Max Mara Clothing was started by Achille Maramotti in Italy in 1951. He started Max Mara clothes out only doing clothes for men, but he soon found a booming market for women who wanted good fashions but couldn't afford them because of problems in Italy after World War II. Maramotti jumped on the opportunity and soon began to expand his clothing empire and his brand of clothes, which came to be known the world over for their sense of fashion and reasonable prices. (Zara clothing ring a bell?) Over the years, they became really good at knitted items to wear.

Achille Maramotti died in 2005, leaving behind the Max Mara Clothing empire to his three children; Luigi Maramotti, Ignacio Maramotti, and Ludovica Maramotti. They continue to run the company today, doing as well if not better than their father on his best year. Keeping it in the family was a really smart move for Max Mara in my opinion, this gives the clothes a special touch that you might not get in a company that isn't run by the family of those who created it from the ground up. This is just one of the great things about this brand. They really run in line with Sisley clothing!

Max Mara Clothing really cares about the individuality of women in the modern world and this really shows in their clothing designs. From the colors to the fabrics used, this company knows how to make the most of what they have to work with. Another thing to note is how the company, especially in the early days, sold clothes under the main brand rather than hyping the fact that they were designed by this or that person. Of course, a lot of designers who worked for Max Mara went on to do other great things on their own. Such as some H&M clothing designers! They paid their dues with Maramotti, though.

There are over 30 different, distinct labels available when you visit a Max Mara clothes shop - whether you do it in person or shop online (much easier to shop online for Max Mara rather than Hollister Clothing). Yes, that's right, you can get this great brand online too. That's just really sweet, you know what I mean? The brand has come a long way since its humble beginnings in Italy half a century ago. Throughout that time, though, they've managed to keep their focus on producing great quality fashion at a price that's affordable for people everywhere, even though superstars might be found wearing it often. (Yes, I'm talking to you Sandra Bullock and Daisy Fuentes!) If you don't seem to like the style, I think you will enjoy the Penelope Cruz side of things with Mango Clothing.
