I Was even more disappointed when Glasgow Rangers lost to Glasgow Celtic last season, but cheered up when Rangers beat Celtic by 4 goals -2 last week lol.....jimmy
it's amazing how passionate people can be about sports and politics. My old neighbor would go into a depression everytime his favorite college football team lost. At least they get to play every week. With Presidential elections, the hangover lasts 4 years.
I was very dissapointed when Bush won again, still hard to believe. Just added my vote!
Definitely not happy with the job Bush has done. But also not thinking Kerry or Gore would have done any better. Since both of them are schmucks in their own right.
I'm disappointed Ron Paul's not in the running anymore. We finally had someone who sees things for what they are instead of what others demand they do.
...jp
I don't believe Bush won in 2004, and I KNOW Bush lost in 2000.
So "disappointing" just isn't the word for the past 2 terms. "Appalling" and "terrifying" and "tragic" come closer.
Not easy to give an opinion in your poll when I will feel more elated than disappointed if Obama loses to McCain, and I certainly felt no disappointment with the Gore and Kerry losses. I agree with jp: neither Kerry nor Gore would have added much more than Bush has to the quality of life. At least Bush gives you those little laughs when you belittle his twisted language. There's been no such verbal fun to be had with Obama, Kerry (!), or Gore!

It's a trick question, Paul. You are absolutely correct that Bush's election (via the US Supreme Court and some tricky vote manipulations) is the worst thing that evr happened to this country. However, after 8 years of virtual dictator the election of another Republican with the same agenda would be unthinkable. In the spirit of the hub, I voted for one of the three options, but I wanted to vote for all three.
I was and would be very happy with all those so I suppose I'll just not vote. Getting a little closer than it looked a year ago...scary...lol.
It's amazing the "one" can't put the old man away. Socialism is a tough sell, even for the MSM (obama propaganda machine)
Load up on tums, it might get close, very very close.
This poll is certainly biased to people that were dissappointed with the previous elections. I guess, people who were the happiest with the results could vote that way.
So far, I'm amazed people will be more disappointed if McCain wins then they were when Gore lost. The Gore loss still bothers me.
Oh I don’t know, Mr. Gore seems to be doing okay for himself. What with his movie and a couple of prestige’s trophies and all. Not to mention all that money; say did you see Al’s new boat? It is a 120 foot house boat; it uses more energy in 24 hours than a 900 hundred mile trip by Hummer. Oh well he can always make himself feel better and make some money at the same time by buying some good old carbon credits from himself. He certainly is the man. Just think if he would have been president we would not have carbon credits…whatever would we do?

Gore would have been wonderful as a president because of his awareness, and I still have his book Earth in the Balance- but most people are voting with the issue at hand, such as Mcain versus Obama, than what happened years ago, because it is what is touching us emotionally in the moment, as it will be affecting our near future; so psychologically, I understand why the votes have been cast the way they have. Guess, I am talking about my vote. :)
Yeah, the recent polls show a really close race. Isn't that strange? How could so many people consider four more years of the same old ideas? I don't understand it. Could it be that many Americans have a hard time voting for the issues rather than the person? Thanks for sharing this hub. Feel free to see how I try to help others in new ways too. Let's just say I voted for Gore and Kerry out of loyalty, and because I wasn't impressed with the alternative (my instincts were right).
I'd be more upset about Obama losing to McCain because that means that we really haven't learned our lessons as a country, after two disastrous Republican terms. The definition of stupidity is doing the same thing and expecting a different result.
Livelonger (as always) I agree with you...if you always do what you've always done, you'll always get what you always got...here's hoping that the Palin fervor will pass like a kidney stone...painful...but you eventually pee it out (if you're lucky)!
I just posted a bit on my blog that shows McCain has enjoyed a good bounce and now has the lead in the most recent gallup poll.
What disappoints me is that anybody in this country would vote for Barack Obama. He’s not a democrat, he so far left he scares the best Democratic President in my life time. Bill Clinton was a good president, because he loves America, same with Hilary. There was and is a line, left that Bill refused to cross, because he truly honestly loved this Country. I didn’t vote for Bill to be a great husband, I voted for him to be the President. He was a good President…Obama is no Bill Clinton, Obama hates this country. It’s disappointing that the media chose our two candidates for president. I will not now or ever vote for a person that hates my country. Bill won’t vote for him, I can’t either. To say McCain, with all his faults, will be another Bush, is at worst a lie and at best disingenuous and ignorant. McCain has been a throne in Bushes side for eight years. But hey, cheer up, B. H. Obama will be the next President and if in four years this country still exists, we get to decide again. I hope Hilary still around.
This is going to be a close election. Maybe not as close as Gore vs. Bush. But. It will be very close.
Greetings to the Birthday HubKing!!
I don't expect Obama/Biden to loose!! I expect them to win handedly!!
Currently the media is infatuated with Palin!! That will pass!!
I think Palin is a bright, smart, funny gorgeous woman!! I am glad she brings new energy to a tired McCain camp!!
In time I think she could be a real contender - it's just too early in her career!! She has begun answering limited questions from reporter Charlie Gibson and her answers are revealing in how inexperienced she is!!
Obama may only have a bit more experience yet his presence is much more powerful!! Obama's leadership skills have been under the microscope for almost two years!! Palin has only been on the scene a week!!
In another couple of weeks I think the election season will look totally different! I am trusting Obama/Biden to kick things up a notch and move far ahead in the polls!!
There is one thing that bothers me, however, when listening to McCain and Palin!! It's something in their voices that goes beyond confidence!! My training in forensic psychology tells me they know something!!?? That they don't need to be too concerned about whether Palin did this or that!! Or that McCain is too out of touch!!?? It's like someone/something has assured them they will win, like a guarantee?!!
Our country is in desperate need of change! We cannot afford any more of Bush/Cheney/McCain/Palin!
Blessings always, Earth Angel!!

Although I would have prefered to have seen Gore win in 2000, I think I was more disappointed when we elected Bush to a second term. We should have listened to the President "fool me once, shame on — shame on you. Fool me — you can't get fooled again."
