Sundanese Wedding Couple

I got married on May 14 2005. At that time, as a Sundanese girl, I wore traditional Sundanese wedding clothes. You can see the picture of my husband and I on our wedding day below.

My wedding clothes is a pair of Kebaya, that is an embroidered clothes and batik sarong. Meanwhile, my husband wore a more modern style wedding clothes; a black tuxedo and a shirt. But, to show the identity as Sundanese couple, both of us wore jasmine chains on our wedding clothes.

Other Sundanese wedding clothes worn at the wedding. The bride does not wear veil, that is why she shapes her hair and makes it into a knot at her back head. Up on her head, she wears a crown made of brass.

Meanwhile the man wears a traditional Sundanese coat with embroideries and a cap called 'Blangkon'. Picture source.

Beside the traditional wedding clothes, in traditional Sundanese wedding there is also usually traditional music show called the 'gamelan'. Gamelan players play the wedding instrumentals, or Degung. All along the wedding ceremony, Degung is played by the gamelan players, giving serene atmosphere to all the guests.
