A Story of Hope and Determination

The story of seven year old Heather Mcnamara is a story of hope and determination. Heather was diagnosed with a cancerous tumor the size of a baseball - resulting in a rare and risky surgical procedure - the only possible cure for her disease. Although the road to recovery has just begun, Heather now has a chance at life.

Heather’s story touched a spot in my heart - not because of Heather and what she has gone through - but from the viewpoint of a parent. Heather has parents who - after receiving hopeless news of no cure - continued to push forward, never giving up the thread of hope for a different outcome. They got their answer: their daughter has another chance.

A Hopeless Diagnosis?

Hardly a day goes by when I don’t think about how many people simply sit back and accept a hopeless diagnosis - even a second hopeless diagnosis. While I have great respect for the medical profession, the truth is: they don’t have all the answers all the time. I can say that - because I have walked the same path.

Some Conditions Defy Medical Understanding

At twelve years old, our daughter presented with symptoms of a vascular condition that defied all medical understanding. Long story short, we would not accept the hopeless medical diagnosis and began a journey that included 23 different specialists, every imaginable alternative treatment, even psychological evaluations (from the doctors who thought it was all in her head) and thousands upon thousands of dollars of out of pocket expenses. We even saw the results of one test that actually showed the problem, but were turned away because what they saw could not medically happen. Therefore it did not exist.

We finally got a lead on a doctor out of state and made the trip to see him. Their test also showed the problem: they also said it was medically impossible. But, unlike the other doctors we had seen, they turned the medical library upside down to search for answers.

Our daughter was fortunate to have a skilled surgeon who believed her. He did find the problem - the medical impossibility. Over the years, she has been the frequent subject of medical discussions, articles - and has also been the catalyst for the treatment of countless others, who have since gone through the same surgery and have a new lease on life.

Quality Medical Skill and Quality Nutritional Support

We found answers to the medical condition our daughter had. Along the way, we found answers to something else as well. We learned how important it is to provide good nutrition at the very core of the human body. Given the proper nutrition, the human body has the ingredients to function optimally. We truly believe that our daughter has experienced the best of both worlds: the highest quality of medical skills and underneath it all - the highest quality of nutritional support.

I am here to encourage the person who truly believes there can be another outcome to a hopeless diagnosis. Although my experiences have eliminated many of the wrong paths, be aware that the road to your answer might not be an easy one. It will take great determination and a relentless spirit. It may well have a disastrous effect on your bank account. We are still struggling to recover - years later. Was it worth it? Absolutely. Would we do it again? Without a doubt. Like Heather Mcnamara, our daughter got another chance. We would have it no other way.
