The ringing in your ears can be a result of taking one of the medicines that cause tinnitus in large doses for an extended period of time. Ototoxic drugs, drugs that can be toxic to the cochlea or vestibular structures in the ear, can have hearing loss, ear ringing, vertigo as effects. But before making any hasty conclusions, go visit your doctor first.

Over 200 drugs are known to potentially cause ringing in the ears. We put emphasis to the word “potential” to point out that it does not necessarily mean that if you are taking one of them, you will automatically suffer from tinnitus. One reason for this is that medications elicit different reactions from different people.
