Hand Painted Shield With Family Crest

Have you ever wanted to give a truly unique gift? I always hate trying to figure out what to get that person who already has everything. I usually end up giving them a gift card to either the movies or a restaurant. While this is a nice gift, it doesn't have much thought behind it.

This is where a hand painted shield comes in. Not only is the artwork beautiful, but this is a gift that shows you put time and energy into it.

I was able to purchase a plain medieval shield and have it painted with a family crest. My siblings and I then gave it to my father as a Christmas present. He was not only thrilled that he now had a shield with his family crest on it, but it was so beautifully done, that he now had an artpiece to hang on the wall. He now has an heirloom that can be passed down through the generations.

Other Armor Gift Ideas

If you don't think a painted shield would make a good gift, there are plenty of other medieval weapons that will make a unique present. Any collector would love a replica sword, movie replica, or a flintlock pistol. These gifts will put a smile on anyones face!

These pieces are ideal to display in your home, but could also be used for reenactments. Any performer would appreciate receiving a historical piece either to use on stage or to hang in their home.

Whichever item you decide to get, a custom painted shield or a replica medieval weapon, the recipient will be thrilled to receive this unique gift!

My husband made a shield like this from plywood. He wet the wood and wrapped it around a barrel to help it maintain its shape. He has also made armor out of coat hangers and a pretty amazing helmet, too. These were time-consuming projects, and we both agree he shouldn't quit his day job over it! But he sure had fun doing it!

Thanks for a fun hub.
