The Overview of Women's Undershirts (1370-1400 years)
There are several options.
1) Wenceslaus Bible undershirt
Wenceslaus Bible (late 14 th century) contains many images of bathhouse staff in the undershirts of this kind.
Drawings of pregnant women and women in bed demonstrate that this
type of undershirt was relevant not only to lower orders, but for women of noble origin too.
You can read more about it here.
This undershirt sews from white linen.
Greenland type of pattern is used.
In this case, the pattern will be as follows: back,
front, 2 cleats on each side and 2 straps. A dress
may also contain additional cleats in front and aback (as shown in the pattern), but you can do without them.
Straps may be made of the same white linen, or braided at a planches.
The length of this undershirt is ranging from mid-calf to the ankles.
Reconstruction of this type of women's shirt is on the pic.
2) Undershirt with long sleeves.
Well seen on "Susanna is led away to be executed in 1372 Paris" picture.
Sews similar to the previous one except that instead of the straps you need to sew sleeves.
3) German undershirt.
German type of undershirt. It's without sleeves but with straps which look like continuation of the dress, but not sewn to it.
